Her MajtyMajesty or her Council to pp orders the making ofthat six one new standards of Crown gold & six of one of sterling silver & the delivering be made & & each divided into six indented Trial pieces to be delivered [to the proper officers accord vizt four to the Officers in England & one to yethe General of the Mint in Scotland] for th according to yethe directions of the Indenture of the Mint in the Tower & & to such otherfurther orders as shallmay be given. her MajtsMajestys directions.

The LdLord Chanclellour sends his Letter to yethe Wardens & Company of Goldsmiths to return him yethe names of an able Iury to make the standards. The jury for this purpose has been of 12 or 45 persons.

The return of the names being made to his LopLordship, he sends his WartWarrant by his Serjeant at Arms or Serjeants Deputy to summon the Iury by their names to attend his LordpLordship at the time appointed.

And when they attend, the LdLord Chancellrour calls to his Serjeant at Arms for his WarrtWarrant for summoning thiem & appoints the same to be delivered to yethe Remembrancers Deputy who attends wthwith a copy of an Oath to be given yethe Iury & the Oath being admistrministred the LdLord Chancellour gives the Iury in charge to make the said Trial piecesstandards with all the exactness imaginable & appoints & what inscription & mark to put upon them pieces & what number of indented pieces to divide them into stampto divide them into stamp & to indent & divide each into six equal parts according to their best endeavours & to inscribe & print them & appoints the time when & where to attend them with their Veredict under their hands, & wthwith the said Standards. indented trial pieces.

And the Ld Treasurer orders money for buying gold & silver to make the said standards.

When yethe Iury present their veredict Iury under their Deputy Remembrancer attends to read it & perhaps keeps it when read, & the Lord ChancrChancellour receives yethe standards indented Trialpieces

Which being done The LdLord ChancrChancellour delivers the sdsaid standardsTrial pieces or orders by himself or his Agent to yethe proper Officersaccording to her MajtsMajestys directions upon ReceptsReceipts for yethe same, & sends the Veredict & receipts (expressing the weight of each standardTrial Piece) to the Lord Treasurer or CommrsCommissioners of yethe Treasury to be entered in the TrearyTreasury & kept there by the Deputy Remembrancer.

By the Indenture of the Mint One Trial piece of each metal is to be delivivered into yethe Deputy Chamberlains of the ExcheqrTrearyTreasury to be kept by the Deputy Chamberlains of the ExcheqrExchequerfor trial of yethe Pix, one to the Warden of the mint for tyingtrying the new moneys & bullion, one to yethe Master & WrWorker for making the moneys, one to the Wardens of the company of goldsmiths for making & trying the plate, one into yethe Treasury of Scotland to try yethe moneys & one to yethe General & other Officers of the Mint of in Scotland to make the money. But if theit may be ‡ ‡ considered whether it will not be more conformable to yethe Act of Vnion that the moneys of both Mints shall be henceforward be tried by in the samsame manner that is by a jury by a jury of Goldsmiths before yethe Q.Queen & Council be a jury of G.Goldsmiths by the standards of great Britain kept in the excheqrexchequer & that both the Trial pieces of each metal be delivered to the General & Officers of the Mint at Edinborough, the one to be kept by the Warden of ytthat Mint for trying the new moneys & Bullion & moneys before delivery, the other to be kept of the Master & Worker of that Mint for making the moneys as is done in the Mint in the Tower.
