                <p rend="center" xml:id="par1"><hi rend="large">How new standard Trial Pieces may be made.</hi> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="2"/></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par2">Vpon an order of the Queen <del type="over">&amp;</del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add><add place="inline" indicator="no">r</add> <choice><sic>Coucil</sic><corr>Council</corr></choice> for making &amp; delivering <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">six</add> new <lb xml:id="l1"/>standard Trial pieces of Gold &amp; as many of silver, the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> Chancellour of <lb xml:id="l2"/>great Britain may send his letter to the Wardens &amp; Company of Goldsmiths <lb xml:id="l3"/>to return him the names of an able Iury to make the standards. The <lb xml:id="l4"/>Iury for this purpose has been of 12 or 15 persons.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">The names being returned, his <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> may send his Warrant by his Ser<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l5"/>jeant at arms or Serjeants Deputy to summon the Iury by their names <lb xml:id="l6"/>to attend his <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> at a time &amp; place appointed by him.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">When they attend, his <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> may c<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add>ll to his Serjeant at arms for his <lb xml:id="l7"/>Warrant for summoning them &amp; appoint the same to be delivered to the <lb xml:id="l8"/>Remembrancers Deputy, who <del type="strikethrough">atten</del> may attend <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> a c<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>py of an oath to be <lb xml:id="l9"/>given to the Iury: &amp; the Oath being administred the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> Chancellour may <lb xml:id="l10"/>give the Iury in charge to make <del type="strikethrough">the said</del> two Standards  <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the one of crown gold the other of sterling silver</add> with all the skill <lb xml:id="l11"/>&amp; exactness imaginable &amp; to indent &amp; divide each into six equal parts <lb xml:id="l12"/>according to their best endeavours &amp; to inscribe &amp; print the same as <lb xml:id="l13"/>formerly, &amp; may appoint the time when &amp; where to attend <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> their <lb xml:id="l14"/>Veredict &amp; with the said indented Trial pieces.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">Which being done, his <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> may deliver the said Trial pie<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">c</add>es or order <lb xml:id="l15"/>them to be delivered according to her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> directions upon receip<del type="over">s</del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>s mutually <lb xml:id="l16"/>given for the same, &amp; may send the Veredict &amp; Receipts to the Treasu<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l17"/>ry to be entered &amp; kept by the Deputy Remembrancer.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par6">The print has formerly been that of the money, supp<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>se of a Guinea <lb xml:id="l18"/>on the Gold &amp; a shilling on the silver, &amp; the impressions have been as <lb xml:id="l19"/>follows. <hi rend="underline">This standard commixed of 22 carrets of fine gold &amp; 2 carrets of <lb xml:id="l20"/>allay in the pound weight Troy of England 20 Aug. 1605. <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="4"/> This stan<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l21"/>dard commixed of 11<hi rend="superscript">oz</hi> 2<hi rend="superscript">dw<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></hi> of fine silver &amp; 18<hi rend="superscript">dw<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></hi> of allay in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l22"/>pound weight Troy of England made 20 Aug. 1605.</hi> And the like inscripti<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l23"/>ons may be still used putting great Britain for England.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par7">The Trial pieces may be delivered to the same Officers &amp; for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> same uses <lb xml:id="l24"/>as formerly, unless that <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> was delivered to the Treasury in Scotland for <lb xml:id="l25"/>trying the moneys be now delivered to the General &amp; Warden of the Mint <lb xml:id="l26"/>at Edinborough &amp; that <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> was delivered to the General &amp; Officers of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l27"/>Mint <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">fo</add><add place="inline" indicator="no">r</add> <del type="strikethrough">now de</del> making the moneys be now delivered to the General &amp; <lb xml:id="l28"/>Master of the same Mint. For it seens conformable to the Act of <lb xml:id="l29"/>Vnion that the moneys of both Mints be hence<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">f</add>orward tried before the Queen <lb xml:id="l30"/>&amp; Council after one &amp; <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> same manner by a Iury of Goldsmiths &amp; <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">by</add> the standards <lb xml:id="l31"/>of great Britain, &amp; be made &amp; examined <del type="strikethrough">by two Trial pieces</del> in both Mints <lb xml:id="l32"/>alike by two Trial pieces kept the one by the Master for making the moneys <lb xml:id="l33"/>&amp; the other by the Warden for <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>rying them before delivery, &amp; for decid<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l34"/>ing controversies between the Master &amp; the Merchant about the bullion, as <lb xml:id="l35"/>is done in the Tower.</p>
