                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2"><hi rend="larger">W</hi><hi rend="large">hereas</hi> for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> better Carrying on <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> service of the Recoynage of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l1"/>Moneyes in Scotland <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice>suant to the Acts of <choice><abbr>Parliam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Parliament</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l2"/>for the Vnion of <lb xml:id="l3"/>the two Kingdoms of England and Scotland it has been represented <lb xml:id="l4"/>by the Warden of our Mint at Edinburgh (amongst other things) that <lb xml:id="l5"/>two Monyers from our Mint within the Tower of London should be <lb xml:id="l6"/>sent down to Edinburgh both for Working and directing <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">the</add> servants <lb xml:id="l7"/>already in our Mint of <add place="inline" indicator="no">Scotland</add> to Work that there may not be the least <lb xml:id="l8"/>Difference betwixt <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Coynes of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> two Mints, And that both Mints may <lb xml:id="l9"/>be put into one form of working in all time <choice><sic>to</sic><corr type="delText"/></choice> comeing and whereas <lb xml:id="l10"/>the Warden Master, and Worker &amp; Comptroller of Our Mint within <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">Our</add> <lb xml:id="l11"/>Tower of London to Whome the said Memoriall was referred have <lb xml:id="l12"/>reported that upon discoursing with the <choice><abbr>Mony<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</abbr><expan>Monyers</expan></choice> they find them of <lb xml:id="l13"/>opinion that this Our service will be the better Carryed on by sending <lb xml:id="l14"/>three of their Company, And that they have <choice><abbr>rec<hi rend="overline">om</hi>ended</abbr><expan>recommended</expan></choice> you to under<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l15"/>take <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Coynage of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Money (that is to say) to Draw the Barrs at <lb xml:id="l16"/>the Mill, Neal and cutt <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> pieces, to flatten size Blanch and Coyne the money <lb xml:id="l17"/>and beare the Charge of all <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Wast thereon <choice><abbr>wth</abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> the allowance of 9 pence <lb xml:id="l18"/><choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> pound weight and 16 pounds each for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> charges of your <lb xml:id="l19"/>Iourney backwards and forwards, and that whenever there shall <lb xml:id="l20"/>not be one thousand pound weight Coyned in one Week after <lb xml:id="l21"/><choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> arrivall you shall be allowed three shillings a day each <lb xml:id="l22"/>over and above <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> Work for that Week and upon Condi<choice><orig>c<hi rend="overline">on</hi></orig><reg>tion</reg></choice> that <lb xml:id="l23"/>all necessary Tools horses fireing And allom be furnished <lb xml:id="l24"/>for you all <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi>.</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> they conceive to be reasonable We having taken <lb xml:id="l25"/>the <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>pre</reg></choice>mises into Our Royall Consider<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">acon</hi></orig><reg>ation</reg></choice> do approve of what <lb xml:id="l26"/>is so proposed and accordingly our Will and pleasure is and We <lb xml:id="l27"/>doe hereby direct &amp; require you forthwith to repair to our <lb xml:id="l28"/>Mint at Edinburgh and undertake <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Recoynage of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Moneys in <lb xml:id="l29"/><choice><sic>in</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice> Scotland according to such Rules methods &amp; Instructions as by <lb xml:id="l30"/>the Indenture of Our Mint in England and the Charter thereof is <lb xml:id="l31"/>directed and prescribed and in such manner and upon such conditions <lb xml:id="l32"/>and allowances as are above recited which allowances our Pleasure <lb xml:id="l33"/>is and We do hereby Direct Authorise and Command shall be <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="underline">d</hi></abbr><expan>paid</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l34"/>in such manner as our high Treasurer of Great Britain <lb xml:id="l35"/>or the <choice><abbr>Comrs</abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">our</add> Treasury <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">for</add> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the time being</add> shall think fitt And that there may <lb xml:id="l36"/>not bee <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> least Difference betwixt <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Coyns of our two Mints. <lb xml:id="l37"/>In all time comeing We do hereby direct and require you to Continue at Edinburgh <lb xml:id="l38"/>not onely till the above Recoynage there be over but likewise untill such <lb xml:id="l39"/>time as We shall have otherwise ordained &amp; provided for the Coynage <lb xml:id="l40"/>of our Monies in our said Mint there, Or that you shall obtaine <lb xml:id="l41"/>leave from Our High Treasurer to return to England and all <pb xml:id="p140v" n="140v"/> Our Officers of Our Mint at Edinburgh are to take notice <lb xml:id="l42"/>hereof and Govern themselves accordingly Given at our Court <lb xml:id="l43"/>at Windsor Castle the 12<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. day of Iuly 1707. in the 6<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>.
