                <p xml:id="par2">It being the business of the Officers of the Mint to preserve &amp; encrease <lb xml:id="l1"/>the coyn of this kingdom &amp; for that end it <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">b</add>e<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">ing</add> fit that they should understand <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l2"/><add place="supralinear lineBeginning" indicator="yes">course of trade in relation to the</add> importation &amp; exportation of gold &amp; silver by <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Merchant, <del type="strikethrough">that they may be able</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">&amp; be able upon occasions</add> to <lb xml:id="l3"/>give an account thereof to the government. <choice><orig>i</orig><reg>I</reg></choice>t is proposed that no gold or silver <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">(except pieces of 8)</add> be <lb xml:id="l4"/>exported but what has been first brought to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint &amp; there <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">examined &amp;</add> allowed to be forreig<supplied reason="copy">n</supplied> <lb xml:id="l5"/>gold or silver &amp; entred as such &amp; at <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> choise of the<del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> <del type="strikethrough">importer</del> Merchant either coyned <lb xml:id="l6"/>or marked <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Ingot</add> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> a mark provided for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> purpose.
