1The manner of the Tryall of the Pix

An order of his MatyMajesty & Councill to appoint a day for the tryall of the Pix moneys of gold & silver in the Pix at the usuall place neare the starr chamber.

Three Clerks extract out of hteir books the weights & tale of all the moneys taken us from time to time & the tale of the Pix & 45 or 50 copies thereof are written fair to be distributed to yethe LdsLords & Iury at yethe Triall

The Lord Chancellour to be waited on to send his Letter to yethe Wardens & Company of the Goldsmith's company to returne him the names of an able Iury for theat tryall. of the moneys of Gold & Silver in the Pix

The returne of the names being made to his LordpLordship, e sends his Warrant by his Sarjeant at Armes or Sarjeants dDeputy Sarjeant to summon them Iury by their names to meet at the same place & time & place.

The day of this Tryal being come the Pix boxes are put on yethe Table before nine in yethe morning At about tenn a Clock the Lords do meet & take their places, the Officers of the Mint Exchequer Officers & Goldsmiths attending

The Lord Chancellour calls to his Sarjeant at Arms for their Warrant for summoning of the Iury & appoints the same to be delivered to the Remembrancers Deputy who attends there with the copy of the Oath.

The Pix boxes are opened by the Officers of the Mint & the Gold & Silver moneys therein poured upon the Table

And then The Lords Cahancellour doth causeseth the said Oath to be administred to yethe Iury.

The Lords CommrsCommissioners of yethe Treasury appoint the standard Troy-weights & the Indented Tryall pieces of his MatiesMajesties cCrown-gold Moneys & standard silver moneys kept in the Treasury to be delivered for yethe use of the Iury, & the Lords Chancellour examins the TrallTryall piece by the like Indented Tryal pieces of the Mint.

The Lord Chancellour gives the Iury in charge to make tryall of the gold & silver moneys in the Pix both by weight & fineness according to yethe Rulesin the most just manner that can be by the said standards of their MatiesMajesties TrearyTreasury according to the Rules set down in the Indenture of the Mint

The Lords Commrs Chancellour appoints the Iury when they have agreed in their Veredict where & when & where to attend his LordpLordship with their Veredict & so departs with yethe rest of the Lords.

The Iury being withdrawn inspect the Indenture of the Mint & in presence of the Officers of yethe Mint examin the gold & silver moneys in the Pix by weight, tale & fineness, or after the tryal when when they present their Veredict when they weigh & being agreed & when agreed on their Veredict, & accompanied by the present it to yethe his Lordp Lord Chancellour being accompanied with yethe Officers of yethe M.Mint & he Remembrancers Deputy attendsing to receadive it & after it is read to receive it.

The time & place of yethe trial being appointed & the Iury summoned & the day come, the Pix boxes are put on the Table before nine in the morning

At about ten a clock
