                <p rend="center" xml:id="par1"><hi rend="large">To the Right <choice><abbr>Ho<hi rend="overline">nble</hi></abbr><expan>Honourable</expan></choice> the Lord Commissioners of his <lb xml:id="l1"/>Majesties Treasur<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">y</add>.</hi> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="2"/></p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2"><hi rend="large">May it please your Lordships</hi> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="2"/></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">The Act of Coinage being near expiring, We have thought <lb xml:id="l2"/>it our Duty humbly to lay before your Lordships the annexed Abstract <lb xml:id="l3"/>shewing what the Moneys leviable by that Act have a<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">b</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">m</add>ounted unto <lb xml:id="l4"/>these <del type="strikethrough">five</del> three years <del type="strikethrough">past</del> last past, &amp; what the charges of the <lb xml:id="l5"/>Mints in the Tower &amp; at Edinburgh have a<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">b</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">m</add>ounted unto <lb xml:id="l6"/>during the same time. <del type="strikethrough">And the </del> <del type="over">T</del><add place="over" indicator="no">B</add>y this Abstract the Income has been <lb xml:id="l7"/>about 9600<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> yearly at a medium &amp; the Expence about 14<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">2</unclear><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">38</add>0 yearly <lb xml:id="l8"/><del type="strikethrough">which is</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">And</add> <del type="over"><del type="over">t</del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>his expence is to the Income as about 3 to 2.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">The coynage has <del type="strikethrough">been</del> increas<del type="over">in</del><add place="over" indicator="no">ed</add><del type="cancelled">g</del> every year <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">since the peace</add> &amp; if it continues to <lb xml:id="l9"/>be so great as it has been the two last years the charge of the <lb xml:id="l10"/>Mint will exceed the income by about five or six thousand <lb xml:id="l11"/>pounds yearly. This charge has been supplied hitherto out of <lb xml:id="l12"/>the stock which accrued to the Mint in the time of <del type="cancelled">the</del> war <lb xml:id="l13"/>when the coynage was small, &amp; by the great coinage <del type="cancelled">d<unclear reason="del" cert="low">i</unclear></del> since the <lb xml:id="l14"/><del type="strikethrough">was</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">peace this stock</add> is now reduced to less then one thousand pounds, which will <lb xml:id="l15"/>scarce suffice to carry on the coinage above a month longer.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">Wherefore We humbly propose to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> Lordships that the House <lb xml:id="l16"/>of Commons may be moved that the Act of Coinage may be re<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l17"/>newed this session of Parliament with an augmentation of the Duty <lb xml:id="l18"/>from ten shillings <del type="strikethrough">in the Tun</del> per Tun to fifteen shillings <del type="cancelled">per Tun</del> <lb xml:id="l19"/>upon wines &amp;c &amp; from 20<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> to 30<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per Tun upon Brandy, with <lb xml:id="l20"/>such Restrictions or Ap<del type="over">l</del><add place="over" indicator="no">p</add>lications of the money arising therefrom <lb xml:id="l21"/>as the House shall think fitt.</p>
