The Coynage Duty in times of peace usually amounts the years 1711, 1712, 1713, 1714, & 1715 from XmasChristmas to XmasChristmas amounted unto about ten or eleven thousand pounds & the three five last years been Xmas & ending at Xtmas amounted only to Out of this summ there has of late years been paid annually 1200li to his MatsMajesty's Mint at Edinburgh5865li. 13s. 6d$\frac{1}{2}$, 4651. 16. 9$\frac{1}{2}$, 5055. 5. 2$\frac{1}{2}$ 10036. 19. 7 & 9796 9706. 15. 1. besides 1200 per anannum paid to the Mint in Scotland & two or threeabout 200 or 300li per anannum paid for prosecuting Clippers & coyners. And these charges together with the & charges of the coynage of Gold wchwhich since the Peace has been very great, has carried off all the coynage above a month longer. The yearly charge of salaries charge of coynage the last year between Christmas & XtmasChristmas amounted to about 123400li besides the salaries repairs of buildings & other incidents wchwhich amount yearly to about 34500li. And if thise coynage continues to be so great, the ch charge of the Mint will exceed the income by five or six thousand pounds yearly or above. Wherefor And the Coynage Act expires which hath neither been continued from 7 years to 7 years expiexpired upon 1 March next, or at the end of theis next session of ParliamtParliament. Wherefore we humbly pray yoryour LordpsLordships that the House of Commons may be moved eeither tohat the Coynage Act may be renewed this session wthwith an augmentation of the Duty suppose from ten shillings in the Tunn to fifteen shillings on the wines Wines Vinegar Cyder & other liquors beer imported upon wchwhich it is laid & from 20s to 30s upon Brandy & strong waters or that the summ of six thousand pounds may be given to yethe Mint out of any other fund for carrying on the coynage till the next year.
