Whereas Our High Treasurer of England hath laid before us A Report made by You the Officers of Our Mint on the peticonpeticion of the Gravers of Our said Mint. Wherein they Represent That good Graveing is the best Security of the Coyne of Our Kingdome, And best acquir'd by Graveing of Medalls, That without Exercise in such Graveing the Gravers may in time lose the skill which they have already acquir'd. And that it is the Duty of You the Master & Worker of Our Mint, to take Care that the Money be well Coyned And have therefore proposed, That You the Master & Worker of Our said Mint, may be Impower'd by Us to give leave to the said Gravers or any of them, to make and sell such Medalls of fine Gold, & fine Silver, as doe not relate to state Affaires, And that upon such Medalls as shall be made for rewarding persons for their good services to Us, to Impress the service for which such Medalls are given wth:with yethe Date And that You be further Impower'd to Direct & require the said Gravers and Every of them, to make such other Medalls of fine Gold, fine silver, and fine Copper wth:with plain Historicall Designs and InscripconsInscripcions in Memory of great Actions as shall be approved of by You the said Warden, Master, & Comptroller of Our Mint, And to make Embossments, Puncheons, Dyes, and other Instruments requisite for Coyning the same According to such Orders as they or any of them respectively shall from time to time receive from You the said Master and Worker of Our Mint and not otherwise. Wee haveing taken the premises into Our Royall ConsideraconConsideracion are Gratiously pleas'd to approve thereof, And accordingly Our Will and Pleasure is And wee doe hereby Authorize and And Impower You Our said Master & Worker of Our Mint to give Liberty to the said Gravers to make such Medalls from time to time of fine Gold, and fine Silver for the ImprovemtImprovement of the Art of Graveing as doe not relate to State Affaires taking Care that such of them as shall be for Rewarding Persons for good Services to Us, have Impress'd upon them the service for which such Medalls were given with the Date. And Our Further Pleasure is And wee doe hereby Impower You likewise to Direct and require the said Grave and every of them to make such other Historicall Medalls in Memory of great Actions as shall be approved of by the Warden, Master and Worker, and Comptroller of Our Mint aforesaid. And in Order thereunto to direct them to make such Embossments, Puncheons, Dyes & other InstrumtsInstruments as shall be requisite for Coyning the same. For all which this shall be Your Warrant. Given at Our Court at. Kensington the second day of November 1706 In the Fifth Year of Our Reigne.
