                           <p rend="indent10" xml:id="par1"><add place="marginLeft" indicator="no">Com Lancast<hi rend="superscript">er</hi> Ss</add> <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="overline">aio</hi>n</abbr><expan>Information</expan></choice> of <persName>Robert Sowerbutts</persName> late of <placeName>Poulton</placeName> in <lb xml:id="l1"/>this County husbandman taken upon Oath <date>July 12.<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> 1704</date></p>
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">Who upon his Oath saith that <date>on or <choice><abbr>ab.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> the 28.<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> of Aug<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> last</date> his this <lb xml:id="l2"/><choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> went with M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>John Elletson</persName> then Keeper of her <choice><abbr>Ma.<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Goale at <placeName>Lancaster</placeName> <lb xml:id="l3"/>to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> house of one M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Abr<hi rend="overline">am</hi> Rawlinson</persName> in <placeName>Furneis</placeName> in this County, and that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l4"/><choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Elletson</persName> togeather with this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice>, went up staires in with <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Rawlinsō</persName> <lb xml:id="l5"/>into a closet <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> was by M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Elletson</persName> &amp; this Informant Searched, and there <lb xml:id="l6"/>found two files a large hand-vice, and 5. crucibles, in one of <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> crucibles <lb xml:id="l7"/>was a counterfeit Guinea (all which by order of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Elletson</persName>) was careyed to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <lb xml:id="l8"/><persName>Elletson</persName>s house in <placeName>Lancast<hi rend="superscript">er</hi></placeName> by this Deponent, and left with his wife, and this <lb xml:id="l9"/><choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> remembers, <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> when he discovered the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> false Guinea, he acquainted <lb xml:id="l10"/>the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Elletson</persName> therewith, and M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Elletson</persName> replyed, that his discovery said it <lb xml:id="l11"/>would be worth a hundred pound to him, and afterward at <placeName>Huntsbank</placeName> the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l12"/><persName>Elletson</persName> bid this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> say nothing on't. <hi rend="large">That</hi> about a month ago <lb xml:id="l13"/>this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> asked the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Elletson</persName>, for the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> things so found in the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Rawlin<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l14"/>son</persName>s house as aforesaid, when the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Elletson</persName> reply'd why! what do you <lb xml:id="l15"/>want them? And this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> hath been told that the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Elletson</persName> hath <lb xml:id="l16"/>had and received the sum̄e of thirty pounds Sterling from the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Rawlinson</persName> <lb xml:id="l17"/>for his the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Elletson</persName>s favour to him the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Rawlinson</persName> &amp; the concealment <lb xml:id="l18"/>of the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> matters as aforesaid, and this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> remembers <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> one <persName>Anthony <lb xml:id="l19"/>Askew</persName> of <placeName>Lancaster</placeName> whitesmith a <choice><abbr>rela<hi rend="overline">ion</hi></abbr><expan>relation</expan></choice> of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Elletson</persName> who was comeing along <lb xml:id="l20"/><placeName>Kent stones</placeName>, with this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> from the said <persName>Rawlinson</persName>s house he moved <lb xml:id="l21"/>this Informant to throw and cast away the said files hand vice &amp; crucibles <lb xml:id="l22"/>and false guineas and further saith not. <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="10"/> <persName>Ro<hi rend="overline">bt</hi> Sowerbutts</persName>
