                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">Who saith that <choice><abbr>ab.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 5. years agoe <persName>Leonard Townson</persName> of <placeName>Hornby in <lb xml:id="l2"/>the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> County</placeName> Gent came to this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> to <placeName>Lancaster</placeName> for some Stamp <choice><abbr>paꝑ</abbr><expan>paper</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l3"/>but this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> haveing none then ready stampt, he <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Townson</persName> <lb xml:id="l4"/>and this <choice><abbr>Depon.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> went into an upper room in the house of <persName>Edm<hi rend="superscript">o</hi> Townson</persName> <lb xml:id="l5"/>of this town of <placeName>Lancast<hi rend="superscript">er</hi></placeName> Attorney at Law, <choice><abbr>Bro.<hi rend="superscript">er</hi></abbr><expan>Brother</expan></choice> to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Leonard</persName>; and there <lb xml:id="l6"/>the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Leonard Townson</persName> did actually press or stamp severall Sheets of <lb xml:id="l7"/>paper with a counterfeit stampt in the similitude of a Sixpenny stamp <lb xml:id="l8"/>and as the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Townson</persName> stamp the <choice><abbr>paꝑ</abbr><expan>paper</expan></choice> he this <choice><abbr>Depon.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> marked the <lb xml:id="l9"/>same Sheets with the black mark, and after that the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Leonard</persName> <lb xml:id="l10"/>took a way with him near the Quantity of a Quire soe stampt <lb xml:id="l11"/>or mark't pay this <choice><abbr>Depon.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> a very Small matter fro it. And further <lb xml:id="l12"/>saith <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> about 3. Years agoe, this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> did deliver unto the said <lb xml:id="l13"/><persName>Edm<hi rend="superscript">o</hi> Townson</persName> the Quantity of a Quire or more of the like <choice><abbr>Counterf.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Counterfeit</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l14"/>paper, of double Sixpenny Stamps, the which he the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Ed,<hi rend="superscript">o</hi> Townsō</persName> <lb xml:id="l15"/>knew to be Counterfeit Stampt paper, and for the same gave this <lb xml:id="l16"/><choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> very little or nothing. And further saith that he hath seen <lb xml:id="l17"/>the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Edm.<hi rend="superscript">o</hi> Townson</persName> write upon the same counterfeit Stamp paper <lb xml:id="l18"/>so had of this <choice><abbr>Depon.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> as <choice><abbr>afores<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>aforesaid</expan></choice>. And further saith that he is posi<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l19"/>tive that those writeings on counterfeit stamp paper (<choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> this <choice><abbr>Depon.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l20"/>hath this day seen, and picked out from amongst the <choice><abbr>paꝑ</abbr><expan>paper</expan></choice> and Writeing<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <lb xml:id="l21"/>of <persName>Thomas Backhouse</persName>, were not any of them <choice><abbr>rec<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>received</expan></choice> by the said <lb xml:id="l22"/><persName>Thomas Backhouse</persName> from this <choice><abbr>Inform:<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> directly of Indirectly.
