                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">The sayd Richard Cossens &amp; Boniface Bywater did this day come <lb xml:id="l8"/>voluntarily before me &amp; of their own accord did tender the following <lb xml:id="l9"/>information upon oath And the sayd Richard Cossens upon his oath <lb xml:id="l10"/>sayth that one Robert Thorpe late of Peakirk in this Liberty did <lb xml:id="l11"/>about a month agoe send for this informant to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><sic>sighn</sic><corr>sign</corr></choice> of the Ange<gap reason="hand" unit="chars" extent="1"/> <lb xml:id="l12"/>in Stamford and proposed to him to go shares with him in the coin<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l13"/>ing Trade which at first did very much startle him &amp; did <lb xml:id="l14"/>unbraid him such proposall, but sending for him again did <lb xml:id="l15"/>enter upon discourse with him about the same with intent<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l16"/>ions to find out the bottome of this matter and then the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l17"/>Robert Thorpe &amp; one Edward Bacon lately of Spaulding in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l18"/>County of Lincol, but now residing in London did produce &amp; Show <lb xml:id="l19"/>to this informant two<del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> Stamps or dies to make false Shillings of the <lb xml:id="l20"/>coyne of his p<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></orig><reg>re</reg></choice>sent <choice><abbr>ma<hi rend="superscript">tie</hi>:</abbr><expan>majestie</expan></choice> and the said Boniface Bywater upon <lb xml:id="l21"/>his oath sayth that upon the day the said Coining instruments <lb xml:id="l22"/>were shewn to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Richard Cossens he <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> sayd Robert Thorpe <lb xml:id="l23"/>did send for this informant Bywater complaind to him that <lb xml:id="l24"/>Cossens decei<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">v</add>ed his expectations, &amp; then told him in what, viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>: that <lb xml:id="l25"/>Would not joyn with them to make money, &amp; told this informant if they could <lb xml:id="l26"/>get about 6<hi rend="superscript">£</hi>. stock they could do well enough, and then shewd this informant <lb xml:id="l27"/>Bywater the afore<choice><abbr>sd.</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> stampes or dies, &amp; complaind that the Collar of them <lb xml:id="l28"/>was broken and would have <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/>h</del><add place="over" indicator="no">m</add>a<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">de</add> this informant made a new one <lb xml:id="l29"/>but he refused to doe it, &amp; then <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> sayd Robert Thorpe told this informant <lb xml:id="l30"/>he must not let Bacon know he had sayd anything to him of this <lb xml:id="l31"/>matter, that some time afterwards they <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> sayd Thorpe and <choice><orig>b</orig><reg>B</reg></choice>acon, <lb xml:id="l32"/>did send for this informant Bywater &amp; did desire him to carry a <lb xml:id="l33"/>letter to the <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Cossens which he did, and then <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said Cossens Communi<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l34"/>cated the same to Bywater &amp; they agreed to take an oppertunity to <lb xml:id="l35"/>take them which they thought to have done at that time, because they sent <lb xml:id="l36"/>for 20<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. the Said Thorpe Sayd in his Letter they had got their business done <lb xml:id="l37"/>but he only sent him 10<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. to serve them a while &amp; did design to appre<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l38"/>hend them but they mistrusted him because he sent for more, &amp; took <lb xml:id="l39"/>their horses, and went out of town but receiving a letter last post <lb xml:id="l40"/>from them from London, &amp; he directing him where they may be <lb xml:id="l41"/>found they came and made the afore<choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> information.</p>
