                <p rend="center" xml:id="par1">The Examina<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on of Ann <choice><orig>p</orig><reg>P</reg></choice>ilsbury wife of Thomas Pilsbury of the <lb xml:id="l1"/><choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>par</reg></choice>ish of S<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>. Martins in the fields in the County of <choice><abbr>Middx</abbr><expan>Middlesex</expan></choice> Yeoman <lb xml:id="l2"/>19 Aug<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>. 1699</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">Who saith <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>hat upon Tuesday last past this <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> mett one <lb xml:id="l3"/><choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Douglass now in custody in Chymister's ally in the said <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>par</reg></choice>ish <lb xml:id="l4"/>of S<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>. Martin's and he spake to this <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> and said So Nanny <lb xml:id="l5"/>I am sorry to see you so ill this <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> replying that if he had not <lb xml:id="l6"/>put her to trouble (he having caused her to be arrested <lb xml:id="l7"/>and put into the Marshalsea <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> a month before at his suit<choice><orig/><reg><supplied reason="omitted" cert="high">)</supplied></reg></choice> <lb xml:id="l8"/>she should have been more capable to have paid him the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l9"/>Douglas one shilling <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> week while the money she owed was <lb xml:id="l10"/>paid but this <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> said that as soon as her husband <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">reced</hi></abbr><expan>received</expan></choice> his <lb xml:id="l11"/>arreares from the King that she would then pay him all <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l12"/>money she owed him but Douglas said that he was now in a <lb xml:id="l13"/>way to do for himself and that he would put her to no trouble <lb xml:id="l14"/>nor any body else and further said that he had formerly trusted <lb xml:id="l15"/>the <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> with his secreats and if she would be ruled by him he would <lb xml:id="l16"/>put her in a way that she might easily pay her Debts + maintain <lb xml:id="l17"/>herself besides this <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> asked him the said Douglass <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>what</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l18"/>method she could do by it or words to that effect the said Douglas <lb xml:id="l19"/>replyed and said by putting off counterfeit money but this <lb xml:id="l20"/><choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> said she was affraid with any bad money but the said <lb xml:id="l21"/>Douglass said that she need not be affraid for that severall <lb xml:id="l22"/>people maintained themselves by putting off bad money or <lb xml:id="l23"/>words to that effect and said he had but 4<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> of bad money <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l24"/>him and she bid him let  her see it who accordingly gave her <lb xml:id="l25"/>8 counterfeit 6 pences wrapt up in a paper but would not <lb xml:id="l26"/>let her look upon them in the street but bid her do with them <lb xml:id="l27"/>as well as she could and then he would agree with her <lb xml:id="l28"/>to put off Counterfeit money for him and give her a weekly <lb xml:id="l29"/>Sallary or wages for so doing and bid God bless her and send <lb xml:id="l30"/>her health and so parted with her but said he would call <lb xml:id="l31"/>upon her some time when he came that way that she <lb xml:id="l32"/>lodged And this <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> saith that the counterfeit money <lb xml:id="l33"/><del type="strikethrough">money</del> six pences now produced are those which she <lb xml:id="l34"/><choice><abbr>rec<hi rend="overline">ed</hi></abbr><expan>received</expan></choice> of <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Douglas as aforesaid</p>
