                <p rend="center" xml:id="par1">The Informa<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on of William Ienners of the <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>par</reg></choice>ish of Halesowen <lb xml:id="l1"/>with the County of Salop Naylor taken this 25<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> day of <lb xml:id="l2"/>aprill 1699</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">Who saith That upon the 4<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. day f this Instant aprill he this <lb xml:id="l3"/><choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> searched the house of Humphrey Honesty at <lb xml:id="l4"/>Halesown Naylor and then and there was found a pair of Flasks <lb xml:id="l5"/>Bl<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add>ncht Copper spaud and other materialls commonly used for <lb xml:id="l6"/>making of counterfeit money and upon the 7<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. dau of this <lb xml:id="l7"/>instant month of Aprill this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> was told by one <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn <lb xml:id="l8"/>Sparrow (who then lay under sentence of death for <lb xml:id="l9"/>counterfeiting of the Current Coyn of this Realme <lb xml:id="l10"/>that 2 persons had sworn <choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> severall persons to a <lb xml:id="l11"/>Iustice of the Peace in Stafford and that Sparrow did <lb xml:id="l12"/>design to have the said persons taken up the next week <lb xml:id="l13"/>following and the said Sparrow said that he would bring out <lb xml:id="l14"/>the man that made the <choice><sic>Ginea</sic><corr>Guinea</corr></choice> Stamps that the false <choice><sic>Ginea</sic><corr>Guinea</corr></choice> <lb xml:id="l15"/>was stampt with that was cut in m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Stowe's Lodging at Stafford <lb xml:id="l16"/>the last assizes held there and that one <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Bate who <lb xml:id="l17"/>likewise laid at the same time a Prisoner under sentence of <lb xml:id="l18"/>death for counterfeiting of the Current Coyn of this Realm told this <lb xml:id="l19"/><choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> that Sparrow aforesaid had left out of his Informa<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on <lb xml:id="l20"/>four considerable persons that he had not discover<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</orig><reg>ed</reg></choice> but Bate said <lb xml:id="l21"/>he would make Sparrow bring them out for that (as Bate <lb xml:id="l22"/>said Sparrow told him his whole mind and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> Sparrow <lb xml:id="l23"/>should conceal nothing that would serve the <choice><abbr>Governm<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> (or words <lb xml:id="l24"/>to that effect<choice><orig/><reg><supplied reason="omitted">)</supplied></reg></choice> and that the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Bate did further tell <lb xml:id="l25"/>this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> that one Wilkinson had a pair of stamps for <lb xml:id="l26"/>Mill'd money (as Bate was told<choice><orig/><reg><supplied reason="omitted" cert="medium">)</supplied></reg></choice> of Harvey's making <lb xml:id="l27"/>who was tryed for making false money the last assizes <lb xml:id="l28"/>held at Shrewsbury and that m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="4"/> Greenfield of the

                    <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>par</reg></choice>ish of Derby in the County of Worcester had another pair of Stamps <lb xml:id="l29"/>for milld money and was at work with them at  <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> time as Bate said <lb xml:id="l30"/>he was told and likewise that Sparrow told him the said Bate (as he said <lb xml:id="l31"/>to this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice>) that there was 10 <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> <del type="over">t</del><add place="over" indicator="no">g</add>iven to a Minister (who <lb xml:id="l32"/>assisted and pray<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</orig><reg>ed</reg></choice> with the Prisoners in Stafford Gaol) to go after <lb xml:id="l33"/>the Iudge to Shrewsbury to procure or obtain a Reprieve for <lb xml:id="l34"/>Sparrow as this <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> did then understand by the said Bate and 10 <lb xml:id="l35"/><choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> to a Councell<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</orig><reg>or</reg></choice> at Law and 10 <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> to the Keeper of the <lb xml:id="l36"/>Gaol at Stafford to Sollicit likewise the Iudge for a Reprieve <lb xml:id="l37"/>for Sparrow aforesaid and the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Bate further said <lb xml:id="l38"/>that himself, his wife mr. Wilcox and Ioseph Hedger can testify <lb xml:id="l39"/><choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Harvey for making counterfeit mill'd money in Stafford<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">sh</hi></orig><reg>shire</reg></choice> <lb xml:id="l40"/>and other neighbouring Countreys or words to that effect</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3">And that he hath latly been told by severall persons <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> Benjamin <lb xml:id="l41"/>Parks of Rowley of the County of Stafford Henry Wakelam <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">als</hi></abbr><expan>alias</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l42"/>Wakeaman, <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="4"/> Coley and George Edge of the said parrish of <lb xml:id="l43"/>Dudley are Counterfeit<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</orig><reg>ers</reg></choice> of the Current Coyn of this Realme, and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l44"/>one William Harris (as he hath been told<choice><orig/><reg><supplied reason="omitted">)</supplied></reg></choice> of the parrish of Halesowen <lb xml:id="l45"/>is now removing a considerable way from the place where he doth <lb xml:id="l46"/>or latly did live to one that has latly taken him a house that dealt <lb xml:id="l47"/>with him formerly in counterfeit money and that tis believed the <lb xml:id="l48"/>said person and Harris design to make counterfeit money <lb xml:id="l49"/>there and this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> is promisst to have notice where the said <lb xml:id="l50"/>Harris designes to live and dwell<choice><orig>—</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> And that he hath <lb xml:id="l51"/>latly heard severall persons in Warwickshire complain that <lb xml:id="l52"/>there is a great deal of Counterfeit money put off amongst them <lb xml:id="l53"/>and that it daily increaseth and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> he hath heard the like <lb xml:id="l54"/>complaint at Daintry in Northamptonshire and likewise at <lb xml:id="l55"/>Wapping in the County of <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">Middx</hi></abbr><expan>Middlesex</expan></choice> and that at Daintry the people <lb xml:id="l56"/>said they were forced to get their money looked over by some <lb xml:id="l57"/>persons <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> understood money well That he hath heard one <lb xml:id="l58"/>Iustice Weav<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</orig><reg>er</reg></choice> of the Marvell in the said County of Salop say <lb xml:id="l59"/>that the reward of 40<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">ll</hi></hi> that is given by act of <choice><abbr>parliam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>parliament</expan></choice> upon <lb xml:id="l60"/>the Conviction of False Coyners (or words to that effect) did <lb xml:id="l61"/>not answer the end that it was designed for because it gave <lb xml:id="l62"/>the Iuryes occasion to think that persons swore falsly to get the <lb xml:id="l63"/>Reward of 40<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">l</hi></hi> and so by that means Criminalls often escape Iustice <lb xml:id="l64"/>and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> he thought it would be for the publick service to have <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> re<gap reason="hand" unit="chars" extent="3"/>ed <lb xml:id="l65"/>of 40<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">l</hi></hi> taken off</p>
