                <p rend="center" xml:id="par1">The Examina<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on of Elizabeth Ivie of Liccabone  <lb xml:id="l1"/>street in Holbourn Widdow 13 October 1698</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">She saith that <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 4 yeares ago a month before she went  <lb xml:id="l2"/>with her husband <del type="strikethrough">into Scotland</del>. M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Ivie into Wales and  <lb xml:id="l3"/>afterward into Ireland M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Gibbons one of the <choice><abbr>Yeom</abbr><expan>Yeoman</expan></choice>  <lb xml:id="l4"/>Porters at Whitehall prest into her Closset and there <lb xml:id="l5"/>lifting up a paper saw a parcell of Clippings and clipt  <lb xml:id="l6"/>moneys and taking up a handfull put it in his pocket  <lb xml:id="l7"/>in a laughing manner and the <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> afterwards  <lb xml:id="l8"/>telling the clipt moneys mist a considerable quantity  <lb xml:id="l9"/>thereof and that the said Gibbons after this <lb xml:id="l10"/>came often to her house in a friendly manner

                    without threatning to discover the <choice><abbr>Exam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> he being well <lb xml:id="l11"/>acquainted with M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Ivie and concealing him for money M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.  <lb xml:id="l12"/>Ivie giving at one tyme a five pound piece and at other times  <lb xml:id="l13"/>other summs and that Gibbons used to carry summes of  <lb xml:id="l14"/>counterfeit milld money in his pocket to pas off and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> he got  <lb xml:id="l15"/>8<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> pound proffit by it and was suplyed <del type="over">b</del><add place="over" indicator="no">w</add>it such money  <lb xml:id="l16"/>by one Valentine Cogswell now dead<choice><orig>—</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> And that a litle  <lb xml:id="l17"/>above 4 yeaares ago <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">n</hi>.</abbr><expan>when</expan></choice> William Chaloner was sought after  <lb xml:id="l18"/>for coyning of <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> and pistoles she heard the <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Gibbons  <lb xml:id="l19"/>say that Chaloner was safe enough for he haad secured  <lb xml:id="l20"/>him from them so <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> they could none of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">m</hi></abbr><expan>them</expan></choice> find <gap reason="faded" unit="chars" extent="1"/> him</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">That she hath heard the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Gibbons complain  <lb xml:id="l21"/>how he wanted money and must go amongst his Pen<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>oners  <lb xml:id="l22"/>and thereupon M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Ivie aplying it to himself hath given  <lb xml:id="l23"/>him money<choice><orig>–</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> That the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Gibbons used to  <lb xml:id="l24"/>hire horses for Valentine Cogswell + Brady and <choice><sic>b</sic><corr type="delText">b</corr></choice> <lb xml:id="l25"/>others having in <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="8"/> Forest <choice><abbr>rob<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>robbed</expan></choice> a house at Noon day  <lb xml:id="l26"/>and gagued the people and taken from them a parcell of  <lb xml:id="l27"/>plate for which the <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">sd</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Cogswell and Brady were  <lb xml:id="l28"/>Committed by Iustice Wroth of <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="14"/> the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice>  <lb xml:id="l29"/><choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Gibbons did then help them to horses and went  <lb xml:id="l30"/><unclear reason="hand" cert="medium">Snacks</unclear> with them in sharing the booty and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Cogswell  <lb xml:id="l31"/>then lodging in M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Ivies house the said Gibbons sent the  <lb xml:id="l32"/>horses to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Ivy's stable for the said Cogswell and his  <lb xml:id="l33"/>Companions and that the said Robbers having taken a g<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></orig><reg>r</reg></choice>eat  <lb xml:id="l34"/>quantity of Plate from the house in the Forest <lb xml:id="l35"/>above me<choice><abbr>me<hi rend="overline">ncone</hi>d</abbr><expan>mentioned</expan></choice> they brought <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Plate into M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Ivy's stable  <lb xml:id="l36"/>and there it it pieces and sold it to one M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Iacob a <choice><abbr>Goldsm</abbr><expan>Goldsmith</expan></choice>  <lb xml:id="l37"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">n</hi>.</abbr><expan>then</expan></choice> in Sho Lane and now in Grays Inn passage</p>
           
                <p xml:id="par4">That one <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ennings Footman to the late Duke of  <lb xml:id="l38"/>Monmouth did <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 4 or 5 yeares ago putt out a handfull of  <lb xml:id="l39"/>Counterfeit <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> in M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Ivies Garden and say that he  <lb xml:id="l40"/>had them for <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 12 or 14<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> a piece and <choice><abbr>offer<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>offered</expan></choice> the <lb xml:id="l41"/><choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> some of them to put off which the Deponent  <lb xml:id="l42"/>refused to do</p>
