              <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par1">Honoured <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par2">The parliament having this day voted the Continuance <lb xml:id="l1"/>of all the Country Mints, I should be very unwilling <lb xml:id="l2"/>to leave Lewis and Clark to enterprett my resignation <lb xml:id="l3"/>to be any other than a voluntary cession, as they will <lb xml:id="l4"/>most certainly do, unless I prosecute, as I have already <lb xml:id="l5"/>begun, the undue preferences by them made. Abbom Grays <lb xml:id="l6"/>affaire I value not, as being what I hope may be justifiable <lb xml:id="l7"/>on many accounts, should the Lords <choice><sic>belive</sic><corr>believe</corr></choice> me consenting <lb xml:id="l8"/>to it, but the Mint at Chester I assure you cannot subsist <lb xml:id="l9"/>as is ought, whilst Lewis governs Clark as he does, and <lb xml:id="l10"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Neale supports both. Wherfore I begg that Lewis may <lb xml:id="l11"/>appear face to face with me, before the Lords, there to an<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l12"/>swer to his throwing the standish at M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Weddell, the <lb xml:id="l13"/>giving the undue preference to Pulford, and some other <lb xml:id="l14"/>accusations of that nature I am prepared to lay before <lb xml:id="l15"/>their <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="overline"><hi rend="underline">opps</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Lordshipps</expan></choice>. I came to town purposely to charge that proud <lb xml:id="l16"/>insolent fellow, whom I humbly begg you to <choice><sic>belive</sic><corr>believe</corr></choice> the <lb xml:id="l17"/>principall Author of all the disturbance we have had at our <lb xml:id="l18"/>Mint, whom if you please to seen removed, all will be <unclear reason="hand"><del type="over"><gap reason="del" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">ea</add></unclear>sie: <lb xml:id="l19"/>and on that condition I am content to submitt to all you shall <lb xml:id="l20"/>prescribe me. Nevertheless, as I have often wrote you, I <lb xml:id="l21"/>would urge you to nothing, but what your great prudence <lb xml:id="l22"/>shall think proper, since it is to your particular favour <lb xml:id="l23"/>I owe this post which it is my chiefest <choice><sic>abition</sic><corr>ambition</corr></choice> to <lb xml:id="l24"/>maintain worthily: and next to that to approve my self <lb xml:id="l25"/>in all things <hi rend="large">Your most faithfull &amp; Obedient <choice><abbr>Serv<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Servant</expan></choice></hi></p>
