                <p xml:id="par3">Our Adversary Clark went on Saturday afternoon for London <lb xml:id="l1"/>with a resolution to loade the Warden and my self, with all the <lb xml:id="l2"/>Calumnys he can: You see what weapons they fight with, and <lb xml:id="l3"/>stick at nothing to compass their ends: he has taken Bowles along <lb xml:id="l4"/>with him and Brown, who are I suppose to serve him on all <lb xml:id="l5"/>occasions, as fr as their oaths will go. If need be, I begg you <lb xml:id="l6"/>would interpose your protection, till we can be informed of any <lb xml:id="l7"/>sort of accusation, and that we may be heard <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">be</add>fore we are <lb xml:id="l8"/>in any case judged. I hope your potent friend M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Montague will <lb xml:id="l9"/>not forgett me if their should be occasion, but as I am conscious to <lb xml:id="l10"/>my self of no transgression, so I doubt not but to acqui<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">re</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">tt</add> my self of <lb xml:id="l11"/>any imputation their malice can invent. M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Clark being gone, we <lb xml:id="l12"/>begin to pay again, there having been but 3 days intermission.</p>
