                <p xml:id="par3"><hi rend="large">I</hi>n obedience to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="overline">sps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Order on Saturday Last that we should <lb xml:id="l2"/>lay before <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="underline">r</hi></hi>:</abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="overline">sp</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> what we think proper to be done for setting on foot <lb xml:id="l3"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> all convenient speed the Coynage in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint at Edinburgh &amp; for trying <lb xml:id="l4"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Pix of that Mint before Her <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="overline">a</hi>j<hi rend="superscript">tes</hi>.</abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Council of Scotland: We humbly <lb xml:id="l5"/>represent that in Conformity to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Act of Vnion We conceive there should <lb xml:id="l6"/>be made by a jury of Goldsmiths seven Indented Trial-pieces of Crown <lb xml:id="l7"/>Gold &amp; seven of standard silver; two of Each metal to be kept in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> two <lb xml:id="l8"/>Treasurys to try <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> pieces of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> two Mints. two of each for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Wardens of <lb xml:id="l9"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> two Mints to try <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Moneys before delivery &amp; to decide Questions between <lb xml:id="l10"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Master &amp; Importer about <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> fineness of Bullion; two of each for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Masters <lb xml:id="l11"/>of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> two Mints to make <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Moneys by &amp; one of each for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Wardens &amp; <lb xml:id="l12"/>Company of Goldsmiths to try theire Plate &amp; other manufactures of Gold &amp; Silver <lb xml:id="l13"/>&amp; also that a pile of standard Troy Weights be made by <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Deputy Chamberlaines <lb xml:id="l14"/>of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Exchequer for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Treasury of Scotland &amp; two other Piles by <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden of this <lb xml:id="l15"/>Mint in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> p<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></orig><reg>re</reg></choice>se<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">nc</hi></orig><reg>nc</reg></choice>e of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> other Officers thereof in such manner that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> smaller <lb xml:id="l16"/>weights be in a proportion to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> greater as <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Indenture of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint directs; &amp; <lb xml:id="l17"/>that all these Piles be printed like <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Weights sent to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Corporations, &amp; one of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l18"/>two Piles be delivered to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="overline">o</hi><hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="underline">r</hi></hi>.</abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lords<hi rend="overline">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> order for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint in Scotland.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4"><hi rend="large">And</hi> We are further humbly of Opinion that untill an Indenture <lb xml:id="l19"/>can be drawn up between Her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="overline">j</hi><hi rend="superscript">ti</hi></abbr><expan>Majesti</expan></choice> &amp; <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Master of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint at Edinburgh <lb xml:id="l20"/>p<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi><hi rend="overline">sc</hi></orig><reg>resc</reg></choice>ribing <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Duty of every Officer in <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>par</reg></choice>ti<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">cula</hi></orig><reg>cula</reg></choice>r, the Coynage may be there set on <lb xml:id="l21"/>fot by Her <choice><orig>Maj<hi rend="superscript">tis</hi></orig><reg>Majesties</reg></choice> Warrant directed to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Gen<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">ll</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Generall</expan></choice> &amp; other Officers of that Mint, <lb xml:id="l22"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> a Copy of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> present Indenture of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Tower annexed to it <lb xml:id="l23"/>authoriseing &amp; requiring them to Act under <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> rules there set down <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l24"/>rotate to theire severall Office<del type="over">r</del><add place="over" indicator="no">s</add><del type="cancelled">s</del> &amp; <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>par</reg></choice>tic<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">ular</hi></orig><reg>ular</reg></choice>ly. That the Master Coyn all <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l25"/>Moneys of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Weight &amp; Fineness &amp; within <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Remedys there appointed &amp; take <lb xml:id="l26"/>care that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> several pieces be not lighter then theire Counterpoise &amp; that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l27"/>Warden &amp; Counter Warden survey &amp; charge <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> proceedings of all <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> other Officers <lb xml:id="l28"/>&amp; minuters, &amp; see that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Moneys be well &amp; duly Coyned in all respects &amp; an <lb xml:id="l29"/>exact account kept of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Dyes &amp; Puncheons</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5"><hi rend="large">And</hi> We humbly conceive another Warrant if Her <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="overline">a</hi>j<hi rend="superscript">tie</hi></abbr><expan>Majestie</expan></choice> pleases may <lb xml:id="l30"/>be directed to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Master of that Mint nameing <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> species to be Coyned by him <lb xml:id="l31"/>&amp; requireing him to Coyn one tenth part of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> silver into sixpences &amp; four <lb xml:id="l32"/>tenths into shillings &amp; 3 tenths into half Crowns &amp; <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> rest into Crown pieces as <lb xml:id="l33"/>was done in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Late recoynage in England &amp; authoriseing him to co<choice><orig>m<hi rend="overline">an</hi></orig><reg>man</reg></choice>d the <lb xml:id="l34"/>Graver to make puncheons &amp; Dyes for Coyning <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said Moneys of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> very <lb xml:id="l35"/>same form<unclear reason="blotDel">e</unclear> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>.</abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> the Money<del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del">.</unclear></del> Coyned in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Tower of London &amp; to use such <lb xml:id="l36"/>Master Puncheons as shall be sent him from <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Tower for makeing <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Moneys <lb xml:id="l37"/>of both Mints perfectly alike untill <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Puncheons made by himself shall <lb xml:id="l38"/>be approved by <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Officers of that Mint, &amp; to sett <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Letter E (the first <lb xml:id="l39"/>Letter of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> name of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> City of Edinburgh) under Her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi>.</abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Effigies as in <lb xml:id="l40"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Specimens of Dyes <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi>.</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> will be sent him from <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Tower that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Moneys <lb xml:id="l41"/>of the two Mint<supplied reason="omitted">s</supplied> may be thereby distinguished.</p>
