                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2"><hi rend="large">May it polace your <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="overline">ord</hi><hi rend="superscript">p</hi>.</abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice></hi></p>
                
                <p rend="indent10" xml:id="par3">In pursuance of your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi>.</abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> verball Order for Coyning her <lb xml:id="l2"/><choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="overline">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> <supplied reason="omitted" source="Newton Correspondence">gold</supplied> which came from Portsmouth. the same has been opened <lb xml:id="l3"/>Weighed melted into Ingots and Coyned. It was an Ounce and a <choice><abbr>quart<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>quarter</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l4"/>above Weight, but the dust Gold was very foul &amp; being Examined <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l5"/>a Loadstone was found full of Iron filings and therfore in the melting <lb xml:id="l6"/>lost something more then two pounds in Weight, and remained very <lb xml:id="l7"/>Brittle. The gross weight by the Invoyce was 65<hi rend="superscript">Lwt</hi>: 8<hi rend="superscript">oz</hi>: 3<hi rend="superscript">dwt</hi>. The standard <lb xml:id="l8"/>Weight after melting and toughning was 65<hi rend="superscript">Lwt</hi>: 10<hi rend="superscript">oz</hi>: 11<hi rend="superscript">dwt</hi>: 5<hi rend="superscript">gr</hi>. and being <lb xml:id="l9"/>Coyned it made 2944 Guineas and 22 grains over <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi>.</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> after the rate <lb xml:id="l10"/>of 21<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>.: 6<hi rend="superscript">g</hi>. the Guinea and 2<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>. the grain, amounts to 3164 <choice><abbr>L:</abbr><expan>pounds</expan></choice> 15 shillings <lb xml:id="l11"/>and 8 pence as in the Weigher and Tellers Account annexed, with the <lb xml:id="l12"/>Warden and Comptroller Certificate.</p>
                
                <p rend="indent10" xml:id="par4">In the Invoyce the Gold is recconed at 5<hi rend="superscript">L</hi>L 5<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> the ounce <lb xml:id="l13"/>supposing it perfectly fine and recconing a Crown piece at 6 shillings <lb xml:id="l14"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is the rate in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Plantations. and by this recconing the Gold is valued in <lb xml:id="l15"/>the Invoyce at 4137<hi rend="superscript">l</hi>: 1<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">9</add><hi rend="superscript">s</hi>: 9<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> by abating one shilling in six. and allowing <lb xml:id="l16"/>for the waste in melting and Toughning and for the want of perfect <lb xml:id="l17"/>fineness the value comes down to 3164<hi rend="superscript">L</hi>: 19<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>: and 8<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> as above.</p>
                
                <p rend="indent10" xml:id="par5">The charges of sending an officer of the Mint to Ports<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l18"/>mouth and bringing the Gold from thence &amp; melting the same into Ingots <lb xml:id="l19"/>were 9<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>: 9<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>: 6<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>: as in the bill Annexed, without allowing the Officer any <lb xml:id="l20"/>thing for his Trouble who in modesty would make no demand on that <lb xml:id="l21"/>amount. I humbly pray your Lordships Order for paying the surplus <lb xml:id="l22"/>above the Charges into the Exchequer</p>
