                <p rend="center" xml:id="par1"><hi rend="large">To the most <choice><abbr>Hon<hi rend="superscript">ble</hi>.</abbr><expan>Honourable</expan></choice> the Lord High Treasurer <lb xml:id="l1"/>of Great Britain</hi></p>
                
                <p rend="indent5" xml:id="par2">The further Memorial of Henry Smithson</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3">Most humbly sheweth</p>
                
                <p rend="indent10" xml:id="par4">That the said Smithson on the 25<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. March last presented a Memorial to your <lb xml:id="l2"/>Lordship thereby humbly representing That thro' the neglect of the present Warden of the Mint <lb xml:id="l3"/>&amp; the discouragement by him given in the prosecution of several notorious Coyners &amp; Vtterers <lb xml:id="l4"/>of false Money as likewise makers of Tools &amp; Instruments for that pernicious Trade several <lb xml:id="l5"/>such <del type="over">c</del><add place="over" indicator="no">C</add>riminals have been (not long since) acquitted and discharged for want of a due prose<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l6"/>cution, &amp; others now in Custody likely to be released in the same manner for that the said <lb xml:id="l7"/>Warden &amp; his Deputy refuse to disburse a farthings towards the charge thereof</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">That since the delivery of the abovesaid Memorial to Your Lordship the said Smithson <lb xml:id="l8"/>hath receiv'd certain Information of Great Numbers of false Coyners who have join'd themselves <lb xml:id="l9"/>together in a Body on the Borders of England near Scotland where they Coyne (without distur<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l10"/>bance) vast Quantitys of counterfeit money both Gold &amp; Silver which may prove of dangerous <lb xml:id="l11"/>consequence to the Kingdom unless timely prevented.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par6">That about a fortnight ago One <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Thompson came out of the North about 260 miles <lb xml:id="l12"/>distance from London to give in his Informations to the said Warden against divers persons now <lb xml:id="l13"/>in Custody for the Crimes aforesaid as likewise <choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> others not taken (some of whom are Out<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l14"/>lawd) And tho' the daid Thompson is a very material Evidence &amp; a very proper Person for <lb xml:id="l15"/>discovering &amp; apprehending such Criminals (having a particular knowledge of most of the Gang <lb xml:id="l16"/>on the Borders <choice><abbr>aforemen<hi rend="overline">co</hi>nd</abbr><expan>aforementiond</expan></choice>) Yet the said Thompson was discountenanc'd by the said Warden <lb xml:id="l17"/>&amp; dismiss'd with the poor reward of a Crown</p>
