                <p rend="indent30" xml:id="par1">April 22<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> 1714</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">May it Please Your Lordship</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">Amongst the many and various Crimes Cheats and Defrauds that are practised <lb xml:id="l1"/>&amp; Committed in this Kingdom, that of Counterfeiting the Coine &amp; after passing it for <lb xml:id="l2"/>Good seems to be the greatest &amp; at this time makes the greatest Confusion &amp; disturbance <lb xml:id="l3"/>above any One Crime Committed in this Nation by reason of <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi>.</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> the trading &amp; trades <lb xml:id="l4"/>people of all sorts suffer daily to a very great Degree in all parts of the same and <lb xml:id="l5"/>this by a Iugling Crew of People who have for many Years past made this their trade <lb xml:id="l6"/>and Business.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">Therefore to put a Period to all these Calamities if a Sole &amp; absolute Pardon could <lb xml:id="l7"/>be granted and obtained published &amp; set forth for all those under the Circumstances of <lb xml:id="l8"/>this Crime who will within so many Dayes after Proclamation appear &amp; plead to <lb xml:id="l9"/>the same (or how in wisdom may be thought fitt) and that Care &amp; Protection may be <lb xml:id="l10"/>had for Your <choice><abbr>Pet<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Petitioner</expan></choice> with a Conditional Reward, or some place, or Business for the <lb xml:id="l11"/>support of My Self and Family I will forthwith after such proclamation appear <lb xml:id="l12"/>as shall therein be Directed and will make known how, and of what Composition <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l13"/>said Counterfeit Coin is made &amp; also all the Iugling tricks and methods that are Vsed <lb xml:id="l14"/>by those that Change it off or putt it away these things being known there <lb xml:id="l15"/>is also certain ways &amp; rules to be taken &amp; made use off very Demonstrable that <lb xml:id="l16"/>will prevent the like for the future so that Counterfeit Coin will in a short time <lb xml:id="l17"/>become a stranger to this Kingdome.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">This would be a Branch of Glory to Her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi>.</abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> Reign, an Honour to the Nation, a <lb xml:id="l18"/>preservation of the subjects &amp; an utter Destruction of this sort of Vice &amp; Practice for Ever. I <lb xml:id="l19"/>having for some time past had the opportunity to get the true knowledge of these things <lb xml:id="l20"/>for no other End or purpose then what is here incerted being well assured that there is <lb xml:id="l21"/>ways &amp; means to be Vsed that will prevent those Evil practices for time to Come &amp; no <lb xml:id="l22"/>sooner have I gained what is necessary &amp; convenient to be knowne but I have Delivrd <lb xml:id="l23"/>in my <choice><abbr>Peti<hi rend="overline">con</hi></abbr><expan>Petition</expan></choice> as in Duty bound hoping it may be taken notice <choice><sic>off</sic><corr>of</corr></choice> according to <lb xml:id="l24"/>the true Intent &amp; Meaning of Your <choice><abbr>Pet<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Petitioner</expan></choice> it being a National Concerne Humbly <lb xml:id="l25"/>asking pardon for all things that may be Resented otherwise than design'd by Me <lb xml:id="l26"/>for Good</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par6">It being a Matter of this Nature &amp; Consequence I could neither aske Council <lb xml:id="l27"/>or Advice nor the handwriting of any scribe with all submission desire at least 8 <lb xml:id="l28"/>or Ten days Notice by reason of Distance if Accepted</p>
