                <p xml:id="par3">In Obedience to Your Lordships Order of Reference of the 15 March last upon the Memorial of M<supplied reason="damage"><hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Will<hi rend="superscript">m</hi>.</supplied> <lb xml:id="l1"/>Shepard M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. N Shepard &amp; M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. George Freeman, wherein they desire to have a patent for Coining 40 <lb xml:id="l2"/>or fifty Tunns <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> <choice><abbr>A<hi rend="overline">nn</hi></abbr><expan>Annum</expan></choice> of Copper half pence or farthings, for the space of eight or ten years, of equall weig<supplied reason="damage">ht</supplied> <lb xml:id="l3"/>and fineness with those now Currant as also your Lordships Order of Reference of the 22<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>. March <lb xml:id="l4"/>last upon the <choice><abbr>Petic<hi rend="overline">on</hi></abbr><expan>Petition</expan></choice> of the Provost and Monyers of the Mint, wherein they pray for a License <supplied reason="damage">to</supplied> <lb xml:id="l5"/>coine 30 tuns of Copper money a year of the same value, under the direction of Officers of the <lb xml:id="l6"/>Mint, and under such Restrictions as your Lordship shall think fitt to <choice><sic>releive</sic><corr>relieve</corr></choice> them under the gr<supplied reason="damage">eat</supplied> <lb xml:id="l7"/>straits they are in for want of Employment in the Mint, they being allowed no Sallarys</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">Wee humbly take leave to remind your Lordship of a Report we made the 1<hi rend="superscript">st</hi>. of Iuly las<supplied reason="damage">t</supplied> <lb xml:id="l8"/>upon a <choice><abbr>Petic<hi rend="overline">on</hi></abbr><expan>Petition</expan></choice> of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Abell Slaney to Coin half pence and farthings, wherein wee acquainted Y<supplied reason="damage">our</supplied> <lb xml:id="l9"/>Lordship that the Coinages of Copper money in the Reigns of K Cha: 2<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>. K <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ames  2<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>. and in <supplied reason="damage">the</supplied> <lb xml:id="l10"/>beginning of the Reign of the late King and Queen had been carried on at the Charge of the <lb xml:id="l11"/>Crowne, under the care and Direction of the Principal officers of the Mint, who kept due Entrys the<supplied reason="damage">reof</supplied> <lb xml:id="l12"/>in Books, and the whole profit and Advantage was accounted upon Oath to the Crow<supplied reason="damage">n, which we <lb xml:id="l13"/>then thou</supplied>ght the best and <supplied reason="damage">safest</supplied> M<supplied reason="damage">eth</supplied>od to <supplied reason="damage">be followed</supplied></p>

                <p xml:id="par5">Wee have not heard any Reasons since to Alter our Opinions, and therefore humbly propose <lb xml:id="l14"/>to your Lordship, that whenever Her Majesty shall think fitt to order Copper mony to be <lb xml:id="l15"/>Coined that it may be performed as near as may be according to the method of the Mint, that  <lb xml:id="l16"/>the Master Worker of the Mint may have Money Imprest to him to buy Copper to be Coined <lb xml:id="l17"/>into half pence and farthings under the same Cheques that are Observed for the Coinage of <lb xml:id="l18"/>Gold and Silver and to be Coined by Small Quantitys sufficient only to answer the demands of <lb xml:id="l19"/>persons, without danger of complaints by overstocking the Nation out of the clear profitts <lb xml:id="l20"/>whereof Her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi>.</abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> may have it in her power either to <choice><sic>releive</sic><corr>relieve</corr></choice> the wants of the Monyers of <lb xml:id="l21"/>the Mint many of whom we must informe Your Lordship are in a Starving Condition, or to <lb xml:id="l22"/>gratify any other persons</p>
