                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par1"><hi rend="large">To the Right <choice><abbr>Hon<hi rend="superscript">ble</hi>:</abbr><expan>Honourable</expan></choice> the Lords <choice><abbr>Com<hi rend="overline">mrs</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of His Majestys <choice><abbr>Tre<hi rend="overline">ary</hi></abbr><expan>Treasury</expan></choice></hi></p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">May it Please Your Lordships</p>
                
                <p rend="indent5" xml:id="par3">In Obedience to your Lordships Order We have made Enquiry whether the Publick <lb xml:id="l1"/>Receivers of Money do pursue the Intent of the Act of <choice><abbr>parliam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>parliament</expan></choice> in Cutting all Counterfeit Money <lb xml:id="l2"/>offered to them in payments. And do find that tis observed in the Exchequer the Custom Houses, the <lb xml:id="l3"/>Excise &amp; in the Stamp Office But upon Enquiry into the practice of the Bank of England we are <lb xml:id="l4"/>Informed that the Recievers there have Orders only to refuse Counterfeit money but not to Cutt it, <lb xml:id="l5"/>for fear of disobliging those who bring their money to be lodged there &amp; who might otherwise <lb xml:id="l6"/>remove it to the Goldsmiths where they are sure to be better treated.</p>
                
                <p rend="indent5" xml:id="par4">Wee are also credibly Informed that the Receivers <choice><abbr>Gen<hi rend="superscript">l</hi>.</abbr><expan>General</expan></choice> in the Several Countys for <lb xml:id="l7"/>the Land Tax, the Dutys on Glass Windows, &amp; on Births, Marriages &amp;c. do not cut the <choice><abbr>Counterf<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Counterfeit</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l8"/>Money offered them in payments <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi>.</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> may be one great Reason why the Trade of Counterfeiting <lb xml:id="l9"/>is more practiced in the Country then in Towne. And we are humbly of opinion that the <lb xml:id="l10"/>Trade of Counterfeiting <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">m</add>oney would be in a greater measure prevented if all publick <lb xml:id="l11"/>Receivers of Money were required to putt a Stop to the Currency of it by Cutting is as they <lb xml:id="l12"/>are obliged by Act of parliament</p>
