                <p rend="indent5" xml:id="par2"><hi rend="large">Whereas</hi> Our High Treasurer of England hath laid before Vs, A <lb xml:id="l1"/>Report made by You the Officers of Our Mint on the <choice><abbr>Peti<hi rend="overline">con</hi></abbr><expan>Petition</expan></choice> of the Gravers of Our <lb xml:id="l2"/>said Mint, Wherein they Represent, That Good Graving is the best security of the <lb xml:id="l3"/>Coin of our Kingdom, and best acquired by Graveing of Medals, That without <lb xml:id="l4"/>Exercise in such Graveing the Gravers may in time lose the skill which they <lb xml:id="l5"/>have already acquired. And that it is the Duty of You the Master &amp; Worker <lb xml:id="l6"/>of Our Mint to take care that the Money be well Coined And have therefore <lb xml:id="l7"/>proposed, That you the Master &amp; Worker of Our Said Mint may be Impowered <lb xml:id="l8"/>by Vs to give leave to the said Gravers or any of them, to make and sell such <lb xml:id="l9"/>Medalls of fine Gold and fine Silver, as do not relate to State Affairs, And <lb xml:id="l10"/>that upon Such Medalls as shall be made for Rewarding persons for their <lb xml:id="l11"/>good services to us, to Impress the service for which such Medalls are given <lb xml:id="l12"/>with the Date And that You be further Impowered to Direct &amp; Require the <lb xml:id="l13"/>said Gravers and Every of them, to make such other Medals of fine Gold, fine <lb xml:id="l14"/>Silver and fine Copper, with plain Historical Designs &amp; Inscriptions in <lb xml:id="l15"/>Memory of Great Actions as shall be Approved of by you the said Warden <lb xml:id="l16"/>Master and Comptroller of Our Mint, And to make Imbossements, <lb xml:id="l17"/>Puncheons, Dyes and other Instruments requisite for Coining the <lb xml:id="l18"/>same according to such Orders as they or any of them respectively <lb xml:id="l19"/>shall from time to time receive from you the said Master &amp; Worker of <lb xml:id="l20"/>Our Mint and not otherwise. Wee haveing taken the Premisses into <lb xml:id="l21"/>Our Royal Consideration are Gratiously pleased to Approve thereof, <lb xml:id="l22"/>And Accordingly Our Will and pleasure is And Wee do hereby <lb xml:id="l23"/>Authorise and Impower You Our Said Master and Worker of Our <lb xml:id="l24"/>Mint to give Liberty to the said Gravers to make such Medals from <lb xml:id="l25"/>time to time of fine Gold and fine Silver for the Improvement of the <lb xml:id="l26"/>Art of Graveing as do not relate to state affairs taking care that <lb xml:id="l27"/>such of them as shall be for Rewarding persons for Good Services to <lb xml:id="l28"/>Vs have Impressed upon them the Service for which such Medals <lb xml:id="l29"/>were given with the Date. <hi rend="large">And our further pleasure is</hi> And <lb xml:id="l30"/>Wee do hereby Impower you likewise to Direct &amp; Require the said <lb xml:id="l31"/>Gravers and Every of them to make such other Historical Medalls <lb xml:id="l32"/>in Memory of Great Actions as shall be Approved off by the Warden, <lb xml:id="l33"/>Master and Worker and Comptroller of Our Mint aforesaid.</p>

                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3">And in Order thereunto to direct them to make such <lb xml:id="l34"/>Embossements, puncheons, Dyes &amp; other Instruments as shall <lb xml:id="l35"/>be requisite for Coining the same. For all which this shall <lb xml:id="l36"/>be Your Warrant. Given at Our Court at Kensington the <lb xml:id="l37"/>second day of November 1706 In the Fifth Year of Our <lb xml:id="l38"/>Reign</p>
