                <p xml:id="par1"><hi rend="large">V</hi>pon the first of May the House of Commons made <lb xml:id="l1"/>this Vote. Resolved that for encouraging the bringing wrought <lb xml:id="l2"/>Plate <del type="over"><unclear reason="over" cert="low">to</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">in</add>to the Mint to be coined, there shall be allowed <lb xml:id="l3"/>to such persons as shall so bring the same, after the rate <lb xml:id="l4"/>of five shillings &amp; five pence per ounce for the old stan<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l5"/>dard &amp; five shillings &amp; eight pence per ounce for the <lb xml:id="l6"/>new standard for all plate on <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> the mark of the Gold<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l7"/>smiths company of London or any other City is set &amp; <lb xml:id="l8"/>for uncertain plate not so marked (being reduced to stand<lb xml:id="l9"/>ard) after the rate of five shillings &amp; six pence per <lb xml:id="l10"/>ounce.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par2">Vpon the fift of May the Commons made these fur<lb xml:id="l11"/>ther Votes, Resolved that an humble Address be presented <lb xml:id="l12"/>to her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> that she will be pleased to give directions <lb xml:id="l13"/>to the Officers of the Mint to receive in all such <lb xml:id="l14"/>wrought plate as shall be brought to them &amp; to give <lb xml:id="l15"/>Receipts to such persons as shall bring the same for the <lb xml:id="l16"/>amount thereof at the several rates &amp; prices agreed by <lb xml:id="l17"/>this House to be allowed for such wrought Plate as shall <lb xml:id="l18"/>be brought to the Mint to be coined; &amp; that the same be <lb xml:id="l19"/>immediately coined into shillings &amp; sixpences.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">Resolved that all such Receipts to be given by the <lb xml:id="l20"/>Officers of the Mint for any wrought Plate shall be ac<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l21"/>cepted &amp; taken for the full amount thereof in any <lb xml:id="l22"/>payments to be made in any Loanes or any contributions <lb xml:id="l23"/>upon any funds to be granted in this session of Parliament.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">And upon the said Address her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> gave dire<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">ct</add>ions <lb xml:id="l24"/>accordingly by a Warrant dated <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">M</add>ay 10<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>, a copy of <lb xml:id="l25"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is hereunto annexed</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">Vpon the 11<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> 12<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> &amp; 14<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> of May <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">we took in plate &amp; upon the 14<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></add> in the evening, an <lb xml:id="l26"/>Order came from the Treasury to the Mint a Copy of <lb xml:id="l27"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is herunto annexed. And upon that Order the following <lb xml:id="l28"/>subscription of the Importers of plate was taken for the <lb xml:id="l29"/>future. We whose names are underwritten do declare that <lb xml:id="l30"/>we do not expect that the value of the Plate by us this day <lb xml:id="l31"/>delivered to the Officers of her Majesties Mint shall be <lb xml:id="l32"/>accepted as part of the first payment of the summ for <lb xml:id="l33"/>which there is a Bill now depending in the House of Commons</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par6">Vpon the 17<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> of May the House Resolved that the <lb xml:id="l34"/>Bill for regulating Hackney Coaches &amp;c should be committed <lb xml:id="l35"/>to the Committee to whom the Bill for raising 1500000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> was <lb xml:id="l36"/>committed; And that it be an instruction to the said Committee to <lb xml:id="l37"/>receive a clause, that the Receipts given <del type="strikethrough">for Plate</del> by the Officers <lb xml:id="l38"/>for Plate brought in pursuant of the Resolution of this House <lb xml:id="l39"/>of the first instan<del type="over">d</del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add> be accepted as so much money in the 
                    
                    <fw type="catch" place="bottomRight">contributions</fw><pb xml:id="p162v" n="162v"/>
                    
                    contributions towards the said summ not exceeding two millions.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par7">Vpon the 12<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> of Iune the Bill was passed &amp; upon the <lb xml:id="l40"/>19<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> was published, &amp; from that time the Officers &amp; people <lb xml:id="l41"/>of the Mint gave notice to the Importers of Plate that the <lb xml:id="l42"/>Parliament had made no provision for accepting the Receipts <lb xml:id="l43"/>given for Plate since the 14<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> day of May.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par8">By her Majesties Warrant abovementioned <del type="strikethrough">I am autho</del> <lb xml:id="l44"/>the Master &amp; Worker of her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint is authorized <lb xml:id="l45"/>&amp; required to pay the moneys produced from the said <lb xml:id="l46"/>Plate into the Receipt of her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Exchequer &amp; take <lb xml:id="l47"/>Tallies for his discharge<del type="over">,</del><add place="over" indicator="no">.</add> <del type="over">b</del><add place="over" indicator="no">B</add>ut the Receipts for Plate im<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l48"/>ported since the 14<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> of May <add place="inline" indicator="no">b</add><del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium" source="Newton Correspondence">are</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">ein</add><add place="inline" indicator="no">g</add> not enacted to be accepted <lb xml:id="l49"/>&amp; taken in the Exchequer,</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par9">Quære. Whether her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> may not authorise <lb xml:id="l50"/>&amp; direct the <add place="inline" indicator="no"><choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice></add> Master &amp; Worker by a Warrant, a form <lb xml:id="l51"/>of <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is hereunto annexed, to pay to the Importers of <lb xml:id="l52"/>Plate whose Receipts are dated since the 14<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> of May, <lb xml:id="l53"/>after the rate of five shillings per ounce imported, &amp; so <lb xml:id="l54"/>let the further account rest till the next Sessions of Par<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l55"/>liament.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par10"><handShift new="#en" scribe="Edward_Northey"/><del type="cancelled">I am of opinion</del> the plate brought into <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> mint on <lb xml:id="l56"/>or after <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> 15<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> day of May 1711 being melted &amp; coyned <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">&amp;</add> notes <lb xml:id="l57"/>having been given for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> value <choice><sic>threof</sic><corr>thereof</corr></choice> according to her <lb xml:id="l58"/><choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> <unclear reason="hand" cert="medium">directing</unclear> to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> officers of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> mint, the money <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is <lb xml:id="l59"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> produce of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> plate belongs to her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> &amp; her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l60"/>having directed the same to be payd into <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <unclear reason="hand" cert="low"><choice><abbr>acco<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>account</expan></choice></unclear> of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l61"/>exchequer on a p<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></orig><reg>re</reg></choice>sumption <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> the <choice><abbr>Parliam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Parliament</expan></choice> would have <lb xml:id="l62"/>made <unclear reason="hand" cert="low"><del type="over">p</del><add place="over" indicator="no">C</add>ertain</unclear> that those notes should be taken as <lb xml:id="l63"/>money on some of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> funds given, <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> not being made <lb xml:id="l64"/>I am of opinion her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> may by a Privy Seale direct <lb xml:id="l65"/>the moneys to be applied towards dischargeing those <lb xml:id="l66"/>notes as proposed</p>
