Whereas you have in your Custody yethe body of Charles Eccleston Committed to you by WarrtWarrant under the hand & seale of Mr Rich one of his MatiesMajesties Iustices of ○ the peace for yethe said Country for High Treason in counterfeiting the current coyne of this Kingdom, & forasmuch as Isaac Newton it is by their Excellencies the Lords Iustices of England referred to me Isaac Newton EsqrEsquire one of his MatiesMajesties Iustices of the Peace for the said County & Warden of his MatiesMajesties Mint to make such person or persons evidences in cases of clipping & coyning as I shall think fit, & I being well satisfied of the good service of of the said Charles Ecclestone to yethe Government do hereby intend to make him one of his MatiesMajesties Evidences: These are therefore in his MatiesMajesties name to command require & command you forthwith upon sight hereof to deliver him the said Charles Ecclestone into the safe custody of the bBearer or bBearers in order to give his evidence at Hicks Hall in St IJohn's street against several persons for coyning & for so doing this shall be yoryour dDischarge. Receive herewith the bo sent you into yoryour safe Custody the Body of Charles Ecclestone being charged upon Oath wthwith hHigh Treason in counterfeiting the current Coyne of this Kingdom, & he being now intended for one of his MatiesMajesties evidences against several clippers & coyners of false & counterfeit money: These are therefore in his MatiesMajesties name to require you to keep him in safe custody untill further Order & untill he shall be discharged by due course of Law, & for yoryour so doing this shall be yoryour warrant. Given under my hand & seale this seventh day of September Anno DniDomini 1696.
