    <p rend="indent10" xml:id="par2"><hi rend="large">The present state of the Tin affair.</hi> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par3">If the <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">late</add> Queens contract for Tin be not renewed the <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">several</unclear> in</del> Trustees <lb xml:id="l1"/>in whose hands the Queen left <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> 5240 Tunns of Tin <del type="strikethrough">for payment</del> to be sold <lb xml:id="l2"/>for payment of the debts upon it &amp; upon <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> the civil list, must sell that tin <lb xml:id="l3"/>at so low a pr<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">iz</add><del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del>e that it shall not be worth the while for Cornwall to <lb xml:id="l4"/>dig so much Tin as well hinder the sale of a considerable quantity <lb xml:id="l5"/>of her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> Tin annually for paying those debts. How low that price <lb xml:id="l6"/>will prove is difficult to afford but considering the great stock of Tin <lb xml:id="l7"/>&amp; that Tin has been sold formerly at 40 or 50 shillings per <del type="over">T</del><add place="over" indicator="no"><choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>cwt</expan></choice></add><del type="cancelled">un</del>; it <lb xml:id="l8"/>may be presumed that to sell as much of the Queens Tin as shall be <lb xml:id="l9"/>dug <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="strikethrough">for</del><add place="lineBeginning" indicator="no">&amp;</add> s<del type="over">a</del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>l<del type="over">e</del><add place="over" indicator="no">d</add></add> in Cornwall (suppose about 6<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">3</add>0 Tunns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice>, the whole consumption <lb xml:id="l10"/>amounting only to 1260 Tuns <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice>) the price will <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">most probably</add> come down to less <lb xml:id="l11"/>then 45<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per <choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>cwt</expan></choice>. If the Trustees could sell 650 Tunns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> at <lb xml:id="l12"/>45<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per <choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>cwt</expan></choice> the sale would last eight years &amp; produce 23000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> for <lb xml:id="l13"/>paying the Queens debts. And this Annuity (rebating interest at 5 <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> cent) <lb xml:id="l14"/>would <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">now</add> be worth in ready money 185817<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> <del type="strikethrough">is</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">may <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del">be</unclear></del></add> therefore <del type="strikethrough">the present</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">be recconed the full</add> value <lb xml:id="l15"/>of all the Queens Tin.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par4">According to this recconing Cornwall would sell <del type="cancelled">but</del> only about 630 <lb xml:id="l16"/>Tunns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> at 45<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per Ton or less during the next eight years: <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l17"/><add place="lineBeginning supralinear" indicator="yes">quantity &amp; price</add> would occasion great complaints &amp; discontents in that County during th<del type="over">e</del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add><add place="inline" indicator="no">t</add> <lb xml:id="l18"/><del type="strikethrough">next eight years</del> <unclear reason="hand"><del type="over"><gap reason="del" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>i<del type="over"><gap reason="del" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">me</add></unclear>. And on the other hand in the contract should <lb xml:id="l19"/>be renewed for any number of years the King would receive from <lb xml:id="l20"/>Cornwall &amp; Devon together about <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del> 710 Tunns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> more then the <lb xml:id="l21"/>consumption would carry off. Which <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> yearly addition to the dead stock <lb xml:id="l22"/>would <del type="strikethrough">much</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">continually</add> encrease the <del type="strikethrough">mischief <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="words" extent="2"/></del> &amp; make it every year <lb xml:id="l23"/>more &amp; more difficult<add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="strikethrough">impracticable</del></add></del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no"><del type="strikethrough">difficulty of gettign rid of the contracts</del></add><add place="infralinear" indicator="no">dammage of the<del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">ir</unclear></del> crown by these contracts &amp; the difficulty <choice><sic>of</sic><corr type="noText">of</corr></choice></add> <del type="cancelled">t</del>o<add place="inline" indicator="no">f</add> put<add place="inline" indicator="no">ting</add> an end to the<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">se</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">m</add><add place="inline" indicator="no">.</add> <del type="strikethrough">contracts.</del></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5">If <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the people of</add> Cornwall should only dig 400 Tuns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> &amp; the King <lb xml:id="l24"/>should contract with them for it at the rate of 3<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> 9<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> 4<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> per <lb xml:id="l25"/><choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>cwt</expan></choice>, it would be more advantageous to them then to have no <lb xml:id="l26"/>contract at all. And therefore if the King should contract with them <lb xml:id="l27"/>for six or eight hundred <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> or a thousand Tunns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> at the <lb xml:id="l28"/>same price they would have great reason to rejoyce at it as a very <lb xml:id="l29"/>great favour. And if h<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">e</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">is</add> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice></add> should contract with them for 11 or 12 <lb xml:id="l30"/>hundred Tunns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> besides 40 Tunns from Devon, it would be <lb xml:id="l31"/>as much as the consumption would carry off<add place="inline" indicator="no">.</add> <del type="strikethrough">at present</del></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par6">If h<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="high">e</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">is</add> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><choice><abbr>Maty</abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice></add> contracts with Cornwall, it will be requite<del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> that he <lb xml:id="l32"/>contract also with the Trustees for the Queens Tin. And if he pays <lb xml:id="l33"/>for it about 28 or 30 thousand pounds per <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> for eight years <lb xml:id="l34"/>togeter, or <del type="cancelled">for</del> an equivalent price in any other manner. They <lb xml:id="l35"/>will in my humble opinion have no reason to complain of the <lb xml:id="l36"/>bargain.</p>
