        <lb xml:id="l2"/>of London to receive into our said Mint <del type="strikethrough">barrs of C</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">from time to time</add> fine British copper 
        <lb xml:id="l3"/><add place="supralinear lineBeginning" indicator="yes">in barrs or fillets</add> <choice><abbr><del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">w</add><hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">w</add>hen heated red hott will spread thin under the hammer without 
        <lb xml:id="l4"/>cracking &amp; wh<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>ch <del type="strikethrough">are</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">shall</add> be of a due <del type="strikethrough">thi</del> size or thickness <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">to be prescribed by you</add> &amp; <del type="cancelled">to</del> out of the 
        <lb xml:id="l5"/>same to coyne half pence &amp; farthings of such a bigness that forty 
        <lb xml:id="l6"/>&amp; size half pence or ninety &amp; two farthings may make a pound 
        <lb xml:id="l7"/>weight Averdupois excepting such small errors as may happen <del type="strikethrough">through</del>
        <lb xml:id="l8"/>in &amp; by the <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">unequal</add> sizing of the barrs: which errors you shall endeavour that 
        <lb xml:id="l9"/>they <del type="strikethrough">do not</del> be not in excess or defect above the 40<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> part of the whole 
        <lb xml:id="l10"/>weight &amp; this not by designe but only by accident. And you shall pay the 
        <lb xml:id="l11"/>Importer for such copper imported after <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">s</add>uch rates as the Lords 
        <lb xml:id="l12"/><choice><abbr>Comm<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of our Treasury now being or our High Treasurer or <choice><abbr>Comm<hi rend="superscript">ers</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> 
        <lb xml:id="l13"/>of our Treasury for the time being shall allow <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">not exceeding eighteen pence by the pound weight</add>, the one half thereof 
        <lb xml:id="l14"/><add place="supralinear lineBeginning" indicator="yes">in money</add> upon receiving the said copper &amp; the other half <del type="strikethrough">upon <gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del> in money &amp; 
        <lb xml:id="l15"/>scissell together upon returning back the scissel, the said scissel being reccon<lb xml:id="l16"/>ed at the same price by the pound weight with the Copper imported. 
        <lb xml:id="l17"/>And if the said Copper dot<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">h</add><del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> not beare the Assay in <del type="strikethrough">size</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">size</add> &amp; fineness 
        <lb xml:id="l18"/>you shall not receive the same but return it back to be manufactured 
        <lb xml:id="l19"/>anew. And you shall coyne such quantities of such moneys &amp; at such 
        <lb xml:id="l20"/>times as the said <choice><abbr>Comm<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of <del type="strikethrough">his <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty's</expan></choice> T<hi rend="overline">rear</hi>y</del> our <choice><abbr>Tre<hi rend="overline">a</hi>ry</abbr><expan>Treasury</expan></choice> or <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> High

            <lb xml:id="l23"/>sitting upon a Globe with a speare in her left hand &amp; a Mirtle in her <del type="strikethrough">left</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">right</add> 
            <lb xml:id="l24"/>&amp; the inscription <foreign xml:lang="lat">B<del type="over">rit</del><add place="over" indicator="no">RI</add>TANNIA</foreign> <del type="strikethrough">&amp; under her the date</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">to stamped on the other si<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">d</add>e</add> as <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>n the late copper 
            <lb xml:id="l25"/>m<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>ney, &amp; under her the Date.<anchor xml:id="addend438r-01"/>
            
            And when any Quantity of such moneys shall 
            <lb xml:id="l26"/>be coyned the same shall be well mixed in a heap, &amp; assayed by counting 
        <lb xml:id="l27"/>out 23 pence from several parts of the heap &amp; weighing <del type="strikethrough">the sa</del>
        <lb xml:id="l28"/>every parcel so counted out &amp; <del type="strikethrough">taking</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">you shall take</add> a medium of <del type="cancelled">th</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">all</add> the weights for 
        <lb xml:id="l29"/>the weight of 23 pence, &amp; thereby estimat<del type="over">i</del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add><del type="cancelled">ng</del> the value <del type="strikethrough">of the whole</del>
        <lb xml:id="l30"/>of the whole heap &amp; of every part thereof according to its weight.
        <lb xml:id="l31"/>And you <del type="strikethrough">assay the same</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="strikethrough">in fineness</del></add> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">shall cause the same to</add> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">be also assayed in fineness</add> by taking some pieces of the money, heating 
        <lb xml:id="l32"/>them r<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">ed</add> hot &amp; b<del type="over">e</del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add>ttering them to see if they will spread thin under 
        <lb xml:id="l33"/>the hammer, &amp; then you shall receive the said new moneys from the 
        <lb xml:id="l34"/>moneyers by weight &amp; deliver the same in smaller parcells to <del type="cancelled">o<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> p</del> such 
        <lb xml:id="l35"/>of <add place="inline" indicator="no"><choice><abbr>o<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>our</expan></choice></add> people as <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">shall</add> come for the same at the price se<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">ttl</add>ed &amp; stated by the 
        <lb xml:id="l36"/>assay as above, abating <del type="strikethrough">them</del> one penny in every se<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">v</add>en pounds weight 
        <lb xml:id="l37"/>in <del type="strikethrough">consideration</del> recompence for any <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">small</add> defect which may sometimes happen 
        <lb xml:id="l38"/>in the tale by the unequal sizing of the barrs of Copper. And the Money<lb xml:id="l39"/>ers shall not vend <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">pay or</add> distribute any of the said new coined moneys before 
        <lb xml:id="l40"/>the same be duely assayed &amp; delivered to the said <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Master</expan></choice> &amp; <choice><abbr>W<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Worker</expan></choice> as above.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par2">And we doe further appoint &amp; ordein that all receip<del type="over">s</del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>s &amp; deliveries of 
        <lb xml:id="l41"/>Copper in barrs or scissel with the weight or price &amp; all deliveries of 
        <lb xml:id="l42"/>new moneys <del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">to</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">fr</add>om the Moneyers to the <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan/></choice> &amp; <choice><abbr>W<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan/></choice> with the assays in 
        <lb xml:id="l43"/>weight &amp; the price stated &amp; setled by the assays <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">shall</add> be entered in <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="5"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">books</add> <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">by</add> 
        <lb xml:id="l44"/>a Clerk who shall be appointed by us &amp; be called the kings Clerk, &amp; that
        <lb xml:id="l45"/>our said Clerk shall see all the assays performed &amp; the copper &amp; moneys 
        <lb xml:id="l46"/>&amp; scissel weighed, &amp; one or more pieces taken out of every parcel 
        <lb xml:id="l47"/>of moneys assayed to be kept in a box under his key &amp; the key of the 
        <lb xml:id="l48"/><choice><abbr>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Master</expan></choice> &amp; <choice><abbr>W<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Worker</expan></choice> to be tryed annually in weight &amp; fineness before whom 
        <lb xml:id="l49"/>the <choice><abbr>Comm<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of our Treasury now being or the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>H.</abbr><expan>High</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Tre<hi rend="overline">a</hi>rer</abbr><expan>Treasurer</expan></choice> or <choice><abbr>Comm<hi rend="superscript">ers</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> 
        <lb xml:id="l50"/>of our <choice><abbr>Tre<hi rend="overline">a</hi>ry</abbr><expan>Treasury</expan></choice> for the time being shal<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">l</add> appoint<add place="inline" indicator="no">.</add> <del type="strikethrough">to see the trial performed</del> <lb xml:id="l51"/><del type="over">a</del><add place="over" indicator="no">A</add>nd our said Clerk shall also <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">yearly</add> make a Roll upon oath of <del type="cancelled">all</del> the weight

        &amp; price of every parcell of new moneys coined &amp; delivered from time
        <lb xml:id="l52"/>to time by the Moneyers to the <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Master</expan></choice> &amp; <choice><abbr>W<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Worker</expan></choice>. And <del type="cancelled">th</del> the said <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Master</expan></choice> &amp; <choice><abbr>W<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Worker</expan></choice>
        <lb xml:id="l53"/>of our Mint shall account annually before the Auditor of <del type="cancelled">the</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">our</add> Mint 
        <lb xml:id="l54"/>for all the said copper moneys coyned, &amp; be answerable to <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">hi</unclear></del> us 
        <lb xml:id="l55"/>for all the profits thereof above the charges<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="high">,</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">.</add> And our said Auditor in 
        <lb xml:id="l56"/>auditing the said Accounts shall have all the same power as in auditing 
        <lb xml:id="l57"/>the accounts for the coinage of gold &amp; silver. And our said Clerk shall 
        <lb xml:id="l58"/><del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add>xamin &amp; signe all bills of Charges for repairs of buildings <del type="cancelled">&amp; Offices</del>
        <lb xml:id="l59"/>&amp; for providing things requisite for setting up this coinage. And the 
        <lb xml:id="l60"/>said <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac Newton shall be allowed in his Accounts all summs of 
        <lb xml:id="l61"/>money paid by him for repairs of <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the</add> buildings used in this coina<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">g</add>e &amp; for 
        <lb xml:id="l62"/>repairing or providing coining tools &amp; <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">all</add> other things necessary for setting on 
        <lb xml:id="l63"/>foot this coinage, &amp; all sums <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>f money paid for copper <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">im</add>ported, &amp; the 
        <lb xml:id="l64"/>summ of three pence farthing <del type="cancelled">for</del> by the pound <del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">p</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">w</add>eight for coining the 
        <lb xml:id="l65"/>said copper moneys &amp; for bearing &amp; sustaining all manner of wasts 
        <lb xml:id="l66"/><del type="strikethrough">necessaries</del> provisions necessaries &amp; charges c<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>ming arising &amp; growing in &amp;
        <lb xml:id="l67"/>about the coining assaying <del type="cancelled">&amp;</del> weighing &amp; delivering the said copper &amp; copper 
        <lb xml:id="l68"/>moneys. And the said <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac Newton shall <del type="strikethrough">also be allowed</del> pay unto 
        <lb xml:id="l69"/>our Clerk <del type="strikethrough">one poun</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">twenty shillings sterling<choice><sic>.</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice></add> <space unit="chars" extent="10"/> <del type="cancelled">per</del> by the Tunn <del type="cancelled">for</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">of</add> all the moneys

        <lb xml:id="l75"/>the Tower <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">aforesaid</add> that all persons bringing such copper in barrs to the <del type="strikethrough">Tower</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">said Mint</add>, <del type="cancelled">&amp;</del> or 
        <lb xml:id="l76"/>coming thither for copper money shall have at all times free ingress <del type="cancelled">&amp;</del> regress
            <lb xml:id="l77"/><add place="supralinear lineBeginning" indicator="yes">&amp; issue</add> into &amp; out of the said <del type="strikethrough">Tower</del> <del type="strikethrough">Mint,</del> through <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">th</add>e  Gates of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> sai<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">d</add> Tower &amp; 
            <lb xml:id="l78"/>Franchises thereof without <del type="strikethrough">the</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">any</add> lett, arrest or molestation for debt or upon
<lb xml:id="l79"/>any other account or pretence whatsoever.</del>

        <lb xml:id="l80"/>the Officers of the Tower afforesaid, that all persons bringing <add place="supralinear" indicator="no"><del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del></add>Copper in 
        <lb xml:id="l81"/>barrs to the said Mint or coming thither for money or scissel of copper 
        <lb xml:id="l82"/>shall have free ingress egress &amp; issue by the Gates &amp; through the same 
        <lb xml:id="l83"/>Tower &amp; <choice><sic>Fanchises</sic><corr>Franchises</corr></choice> thereof inward &amp; outward at all times without 
        <lb xml:id="l84"/>any arresting, disturbance letting <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>r gainsaying of the chief Governour 
        <lb xml:id="l85"/>Constable or Lieutenant <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">th</add>e Porter</add> or any other Officer or person whatsoever 
        <lb xml:id="l86"/>he be, for any manner of Debt, matter or cause whatsoever it be, &amp; 
        <lb xml:id="l87"/>without any thing given to them or to any other to have such entry.<anchor xml:id="addend439r-01"/>
        
        And we do further command &amp; 
        <lb xml:id="l88"/>require the <del type="cancelled">Moneyers</del> Graver, Moneyers, Smith, &amp; all others attending on 
        <lb xml:id="l89"/>this service to do their duty with diligence &amp; application &amp; to observe the <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">tasks &amp;</add> 
        <lb xml:id="l90"/>directions <del type="strikethrough">of</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">given them by</add> our said Master &amp; Worker for coining our said monies well 
        <lb xml:id="l91"/>&amp; with dispatch. And for so doing this shall be your Warrant &amp; the
