        <lb xml:id="l6"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> late King &amp; Queen, the coinage of halfpence &amp; farthings was per<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l7"/>formed by One, or more Commissioners, who had money imprested from 
        <lb xml:id="l8"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Excheq<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Exchequer</expan></choice> to buy Copper, &amp; Tin, and coin'd at 20<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> pound Haverdupois 
        <lb xml:id="l9"/>And accounted upon Oath to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Governm<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">t</hi>:</orig><reg>ent</reg></choice> for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Produce thereof.</p>
    
    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par4"><hi rend="large"><hi rend="bold">That</hi></hi> upon calling in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Tin Farthings, &amp; halfpence, (by reason of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> 
        <lb xml:id="l10"/>Complaints made against them) there was a Patent granted to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Proposer 
        <lb xml:id="l11"/>&amp; others, who contracted to change <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Tin Farthings, &amp; halfpence, and to 
        <lb xml:id="l12"/>enable them to bear that charge, they were allow'd to Coin 700 Tuns at 
        <lb xml:id="l13"/>21<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> pound weight, without being accountable to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Governm<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>:</abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> Which 
        <lb xml:id="l14"/>reason now ceasing, We are humbly of opinion, that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> former Method, 
        <lb xml:id="l15"/>by Commission is most advantagious to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Government.
        <del type="blockStrikethrough" hand="#un"><add place="inline" indicator="no" hand="#un">[</add><del type="strikethrough" hand="#un">And <gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/>e <lb xml:id="l16"/>particularly,</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no" hand="#un">especially</add> <del type="cancelled" hand="#un"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium"><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice></unclear></del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no" hand="#un">if</add> <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> same Method be used for coining Copeer, that is <lb xml:id="l17"/>observ'd for Gold, &amp; Silver; <hi rend="large">viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>:</hi> that Money be imprest from time to <lb xml:id="l18"/>time to <del type="strikethrough" hand="#un"><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <unclear reason="del" cert="low">paper</unclear></del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no" hand="#un">a fitt</add> Officer<choice><orig> </orig><reg/></choice><del type="strikethrough" hand="#un">of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint</del>, to buy Copper. <hi rend="large"><hi rend="bold">That</hi></hi> <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Coinage be <lb xml:id="l19"/>carry'd on under <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Care, &amp; direction of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Principal Officers <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes" hand="#un">of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> mint</add> who shall <lb xml:id="l20"/>keep due Entrys thereof in their Books, and that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> whole profit, and <lb xml:id="l21"/>advantage of such Coinage be accounted for to her Majesty.]</del></p>
            
            
     <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par5"><hi rend="large"><hi rend="bold">We</hi></hi> do not hear there is any demand of farthings, &amp; halfpence at 
         <lb xml:id="l22"/>present, &amp; th<choice><orig>ô</orig><reg>ough</reg></choice> there should be a want in some places, it seems to 
         <lb xml:id="l23"/>proceed from an unequal distribution; for we are inform'd 
         <lb xml:id="l24"/>they are overstock'd with them in others places; As at the General-<lb xml:id="l25"/>Post-Office, about Newcastle, &amp; at Leicester.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par6"><hi rend="bold"><hi rend="large">We</hi></hi> are further of Opinion <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Coinage of Halfpence &amp; Farthings 
        <lb xml:id="l26"/>in this Kingdom should be to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> intri<supplied reason="damage">ns</supplied>ick value, (<choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> charges of the 
        <lb xml:id="l27"/>Coinage <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes" hand="#un">&amp; Incidents</add> deducted) but if that be not <supplied reason="damage">thou</supplied>ght advisable at p<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></orig><reg>re</reg></choice>sent

        <lb xml:id="l30"/>from time to time shall appoint, to supply <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> decrease, &amp; loss of those 
        <lb xml:id="l31"/>already coin'd, without danger of new Complaints by overstocking
