<p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">The humble peti<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">con</hi></orig><reg>tion</reg></choice> of the Officer of the 5<choice><orig>.</orig><reg/></choice> late Country <lb xml:id="l1"/>Mints one behalfe of themselves &amp; some others &amp;c<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</p>

    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par4">That whereas <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> were pleased to appoint &amp; establish <lb xml:id="l2"/>sallary's for persons belonging unto <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Mints in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Year <lb xml:id="l3"/>1696. And accordingly <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Pe<hi rend="overline">t<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</hi></abbr><expan>Petitioners</expan></choice> haveing duely attended <lb xml:id="l4"/>that service in their respective sta<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">cons</hi></orig><reg>tions</reg></choice> untill next <lb xml:id="l5"/><choice><abbr>M<hi rend="overline">ichas</hi></abbr><expan>Michaelmas</expan></choice> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">last</add> 98<choice><orig>.</orig><reg/></choice> and have since been employed untill <lb xml:id="l6"/>this time in <choice><abbr>E<hi rend="overline">xamm<hi rend="superscript">g</hi>:</hi></abbr><expan>Examining</expan></choice> their severall Mints <choice><abbr>acc<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi>.</abbr><expan>accounts</expan></choice> (<choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is still <lb xml:id="l7"/>a continued charge unto <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline"><choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>your</expan></choice></hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>P<hi rend="overline">et<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</hi></abbr><expan>Petitioners</expan></choice>) and that their <lb xml:id="l8"/>Charges were great in goeing up and down to their <lb xml:id="l9"/>respective places, and continuance there above 2<choice><orig>.</orig><reg/></choice> <lb xml:id="l10"/>years without any other recompence or allowance <lb xml:id="l11"/>than their base sallary's only (<choice><abbr><hi rend="overline"><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice></hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> were but small) <lb xml:id="l12"/>and their charge and business farr greater than <lb xml:id="l13"/>was supposed or expected: And that they have been <lb xml:id="l14"/><choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>paid</expan></choice> their <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> sallary's no farther than <choice><abbr>Mi<hi rend="overline">ds<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</hi></abbr><expan>Midsummer</expan></choice> last, And <lb xml:id="l15"/>that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Countrey Mints <choice><abbr>Acco<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi>.</abbr><expan>Accounts</expan></choice> are as yet not passed <lb xml:id="l16"/>nor Audited, And <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>P<hi rend="overline">et<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</hi></abbr><expan>Petitioners</expan></choice> bonds given unto his <lb xml:id="l17"/><choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi>.</abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> for <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> faithfull discharge of their respective <lb xml:id="l18"/>trusts lyeing out <choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> them untill <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Acco<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi>.</abbr><expan>Accounts</expan></choice> be <lb xml:id="l19"/>compleatly finished.</p>
        
        <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par5"><hi rend="large">Wherefore</hi> <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Pet<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</abbr><expan>Petitioners</expan></choice> most humbly prayes <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.ps</abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l20"/>would please to take their case into considera<choice><orig>con</orig><reg>tion</reg></choice> by <lb xml:id="l21"/>ordering the <choice><abbr>paym<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>payment</expan></choice> of their <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="overline">ichm</hi>as</abbr><expan>Michaelmas</expan></choice> sallary with such <lb xml:id="l22"/>further allowances for their jorneys forwards and <lb xml:id="l23"/>Backwards, and other extraordinary Expences &amp;c<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>. as your <lb xml:id="l24"/><choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.ps</abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> shall think fit.
