The <lb xml:id="l10"/>Counterwarden is surveyor of the meltings by his Office &amp; is so named in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l11"/><del type="strikethrough">Indenture of</del> body of the Indenture, &amp; there is no need of a new Weigher <lb xml:id="l12"/>&amp; Teller. If these salaries <del type="cancelled">ab</del> amounting to 170<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> be not within<del type="cancelled">g</del> my <lb xml:id="l13"/>Lord's allowance, <del type="strikethrough">they</del> this summ may be applied to <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">defray</add> the charges of melting <lb xml:id="l14"/>refining &amp; coining, &amp; will suffice to coin about 7<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">0</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">5</add>00<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per a<hi rend="overline">n</hi> of silver moneys <lb xml:id="l15"/>Otherwise there will be an Indenture to enable &amp; require the Master <lb xml:id="l16"/>to coin, &amp; no moneys <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">imprest</add> to defray the Charges.</del></p>
        
    <p xml:id="par9">Fol 24 lin <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">8</add>. The Office &amp; salary of the Clerk of the Bullion is <lb xml:id="l17"/>ceased &amp; ought not to be named in the Schedule. If he would be <del type="strikethrough">Weigh<gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> <lb xml:id="l18"/>Weigher &amp; Teller he must get a Patent for the place. And then his Office <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l19"/>the Salary m<del type="over">ust</del><add place="over" indicator="no">ay</add> be inserted in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Schedule of this or the next Indenture. <lb xml:id="l20"/>But it must be inserted in general terms <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice>out naming him.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par10">Ib. l. 25.     <p xml:id="par13"><del type="blockStrikethrough">NB. The Salaries in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Schedule shewn to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Attorney Ge<hi rend="overline">n</hi> amounted unto <lb xml:id="l28"/>880<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> being deducted out of 1200<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> a<hi rend="overline">n</hi> leaves 320<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per a<hi rend="overline">n</hi> to pay for <lb xml:id="l29"/>the coinage &amp; incidents according to the Attorneys report. In that schedule <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l30"/><del type="cancelled">Att</del> Wardens Salary is set down 100<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> but a little before the <del type="strikethrough">coinage</del> union <lb xml:id="l31"/>it was augmented to 150<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> a<hi rend="overline">n</hi>. And so the Salaries at the Vnion <choice><sic>amount<lb xml:id="l32"/>ted</sic><corr>amount<lb xml:id="l33"/>ed</corr></choice> to 930<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> a<hi rend="overline">n</hi>, recconing a <choice><orig>scotish</orig><reg>scottish</reg></choice> sous for a penny English <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is 9 per <lb xml:id="l34"/>cent too much. My L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> Treasurer <del type="strikethrough">think <gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del> thinks that the salaries be continued as <lb xml:id="l35"/>at the Vnion &amp; has given directions for preparing a draught accordingly to be signed by <lb xml:id="l36"/>the Queen. According to these directions the Schedule will stand thus</del></p>

To the Assaymaster 100<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. To the Sinker <lb xml:id="l38"/>or Graver 50<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. To the Queens Clerk &amp; Clerk of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> papers &amp; <choice><sic>cions</sic><corr>coins</corr></choice> 40. To the aster <lb xml:id="l39"/>Smith 30<hi rend="superscript">li</hi>.These being the salaries at <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Vnion to be <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">C</add>ontinued by my Lords ord<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">er</add> &amp;</del>

        <del type="blockStrikethrough">Attorney<del type="cancelled">s</del> Ge<hi rend="overline">n</hi>s report being grounded upon a supposition that the charges of coinage <lb xml:id="l40"/><add place="supralinear lineBeginning" indicator="yes">&amp; incidents</add> may be paid out of the surplus, I am of opinion that no more salaries be inserted <lb xml:id="l41"/>into <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> schedule <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice>out my Lord Treasurer's order lead the<del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/>re be no money <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">left</add> to <lb xml:id="l42"/>pay for the coinage, <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> would make the Indenture inconsistent w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> it self. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="3"/></del></del></p>
            
            <p xml:id="par15">NB By the Attorney <choice><abbr>Ge<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>General</expan></choice>'s Report the <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">charge of</add> Coynage is to be paid out <lb xml:id="l43"/>of the excess of <del type="strikethrough">salaries</del> <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> 1200<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> above the salaries, &amp; by my <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> Trea<lb xml:id="l44"/>surer's order a new Indenture is to be drawn in <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> the salaries are to be <lb xml:id="l45"/>continued as at the union. And at <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Vnion the salaries were as follows <lb xml:id="l46"/>to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> General 300<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">l</hi></hi>. To <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Master 200<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> to the principal Warden <lb xml:id="l47"/>150<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. To the Counterwarden or Comptroller 60<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. To the <choice><abbr>Assaym<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Assaymaster</expan></choice> 100<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. <lb xml:id="l48"/>To the Sinker or Graver 50<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. To the Queens Clerk &amp; Clerk of the Papers <lb xml:id="l49"/>&amp; irons 40<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> to the master Smith 30<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. These salaries amounting to <lb xml:id="l50"/>930<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> &amp; the repairs of t<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">h</add>e buildings <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> will amount to about 80 or <lb xml:id="l51"/>90<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> being deducted from <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> 1200 per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> leaves but 180 or <lb xml:id="l52"/>190<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per <choice><abbr>an<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no"><hi rend="overline">n</hi></add></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> for defraying all the charges of coinage.</p>
