    <p xml:id="par3">According to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> verbal Order I humbly lay before your 
        <lb xml:id="l2"/>Lordship the state <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>f the Question about the allowance to be made 
        <lb xml:id="l3"/>in the accounts of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Allardes for the late coinage of silver 
        <lb xml:id="l4"/>moneys at Edinburgh</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par4">By the Indenture of the Mint in the Tower the Master 
        <lb xml:id="l5"/>&amp; Worker is allowed sixteen pence half penny upon the pound 
        <lb xml:id="l6"/>weight Troy for the coinage of silver moneys. The words of the 
        <lb xml:id="l7"/>Indenture are hereunto annexed</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5">By her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Warrant of 20 Iune 1707 <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">for putting the Act of Vnion in execution</add>, the Officers of 
        <lb xml:id="l8"/>her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint at Edinburgh were directed to observe the 
        <lb xml:id="l9"/>rules of coinage set down in the said Indenture with respect 
        <lb xml:id="l10"/>to their several offices: But I do not remember that any 
        <lb xml:id="l11"/>alteration in the allowance for coinage or in the salaries was 
        <lb xml:id="l12"/>then under consideration. The words of the Warrant are 
        <lb xml:id="l13"/>hereunto annexed.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par6">By an Act of Parliament made in Scotland A.C. 1690 
        <lb xml:id="l14"/>the Master of that Mint was allowed twenty pounds Scots 
        <lb xml:id="l15"/>upon the stone weight <choice><sic><del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">S</add>ots</sic><corr>Scots</corr></choice> for coinage of silver moneys, &amp; 
        <lb xml:id="l16"/>this allowance was in use till the union. The words of the 
        <lb xml:id="l17"/>Act are hereunto annexed. Three pounds Scots are worth 
        <lb xml:id="l18"/>four shillings sixpence half penny <del type="strikethrough">at the</del> English at their just 
        <lb xml:id="l19"/>value. But the nation of Scotland valued thirteen shillings Scots 
        <lb xml:id="l20"/>at twelve pence English before the union whil<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add> the said Act of 
        <lb xml:id="l21"/>Parliament was in force, &amp; at thirteen pence English in distributing 
        <lb xml:id="l22"/>the Equivalent. <del type="strikethrough">In the first case</del> <del type="over">t</del><add place="over" indicator="no">T</add>he allowance for coynage 
        <lb xml:id="l23"/><del type="strikethrough">comes</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="strikethrough">upo the pound weight Troy</del> comes in the first case</add> to almost seventeen pence half penny <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">upon the pound weight Troy</add>, in the second to

        <lb xml:id="l28"/>in the second to 7655. 18. 10, in the third to 8293. 18. 9, &amp; by the Indenture 
        <lb xml:id="l29"/>of the Mint it comes only to 7165. 12. 3. And for paying all t<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">he</add> <choice><abbr>acc<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>accounts</expan></choice> 
        <lb xml:id="l30"/>relating to that coin<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add>ge, there is in the funds <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add> deficiency of about 
        <lb xml:id="l31"/>two or three th<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>usand pounds.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par7"><choice><sic>The question is, what shall be allowed in the <choice><abbr>Acc<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Accounts</expan></choice> of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Allardes upon</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice><anchor xml:id="addend017r-01"/>

    <p xml:id="par8">The question is, what shall be allowed in the Accounts <lb xml:id="l32"/>of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Allardes upon the pound weight Troy <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="strikethrough">in the whole</del></add> for the <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">late</add> coinage <lb xml:id="l33"/>of silver moneys. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
