the state of the case relating to the allowance tofor be made to the Master &
Worker ofcoynage in her MajtiesMajesties Mint at Edinburgh for coinage
By the Indenture of her MajtiesMajesties Mint the allowance for coynage isof
silver moneys is after the rate of sixteen pence half penny per pound
weight Troy
By an Act of Parliament wchwhich was made in Scotland A. C. 1686 & expired at yethe
union, the allowed for coinage of silver moneys in her MatiesMajesties Mint
at Edinburgh iswas after the rate of 20 livers Scottish per stone weight
Scottish, that is after the rate of about seventeen pence halfpenny
English per pound weight Troy., three livers bes 6d english
By an order of Council of Scotland made upon the Vnion three livers Scottish wchwhich aisre worth but 4s 6d d english, wasere put equivalent to 5s English, & this brings the allowance for coinage to 19d d per pound weight Troy.
Quære What shall be allowed to the late Master & Worker in his accounts for the late coynage of silver moneys per pound weight Troy
NB There is due to the Master & At an allowance of 19d per pound wtweight Troy there will be due to yethe MrMaster & WrWorker of that mint about 67000 pounds sterling [whereof 2446li. 3s. 3d is due to yethe Moneyers from yethe Master at an allowance of 9d pr lwt Troy for coinage:] & that there is but about 3000 lipounds in the hands of the M Collectors in Scotland & for paying offin the Exchequer paying this acctaccount.
Note also thatThere is 2446li. 3s. 3d is due to the Moneyers from yethe Masrter of yethe said Mint, & that untill this debt is discharged the Masters account cannot regularly pass not be sworn to
Not also that yethe MastertThere is further due to the Moneyers 254li 2s not yet placed in the Masters account.
By an Act of P.Parliament for a free co wchwhich was made in Scotland A. C. 1686 for a free coynage & expired at the union, the Master & WrWorker of her MatsMajestys Mint at Edinburgh was allowed 20 pounds Scottish per stone weight Scottish for coinage of Silver moneys & 3 pounds scottish was then worth 4s 6d english according to the intrinsic value of the moneys but upon the union was va was valued at 5s English by the Lords of the Council of Scotland in disposing of the Equivalent.,.,. And the Act of Parliament ceased at yethe union & the Scottish is no longer current.
By the Indenture of the Mint in the Tower the
[wchwhich the Officers of ther Majts Mint of at Edinburgh were by her Majties warrant were directed to observe in respect of their sevalseveral Offices, the said ]
the Master at her Majts Mint & worker is allowed for coinage of silver moneys after the rate of 16d per pound weight Troy & thisf Indenture is ann a coppy of this Indenture examined & signed by the Officers of the this aint & was annexed to her MajtiesMajesties Warrant wherein her MatyMajesty commandsed the Officers of her Majties Mint in Scotland to observe the same wthwith respect to yethe sev their several Offices that the constitution of both Mints might be alike accodingaccording to the intent of the Act of union.
Quare. Whether is the Masters to be allowanedce pr lwt Troy for coinage of silver moneys 20 pounds Scottish per stone weight Scottish or 16d per pound weight Troy.
A li pound Scottish was worth 1s 6d eighteen pence & the sixt part of a penny English before the union & at the Vnion was valued by the at 20 1s 8dtwenty pence English by the Lords of yethe Council of Scotland in disposing of yethe equivalent. And a stone weight Scottish conteins 16 pounds Scottish each of 16 ounces scottish in yethe pound
By an Act of P.Parliament wchwhich was made in Scotland A. C 1686 for a free coynage & expiredceased at the union, the MrMaster & WrWorker of her MajtsMajestys Mint at Edinburgh & this allowance amounts to 17d per lwt Troy & by the valuation of the Council of Scotland was allowed 20 pounds ScotishScottish per Stone weight Scottish &for coinage of silver moneys & & the Scottish money is now also is also ceased. at the recoinage.
By the Indenture of the Mint in the Tower the Master & WrWorker is allowed for coinage of silver moneys after the rate of 1s 4d per poudn weight Troy & & for conforming the Scottish Mint to the english pursuant to the Act of union was annexdannexed to her Majesties Warrant whereby her MajtyMajesty commanded the Officers of her Mint at Edinburgh to observe the same with respect to their several Offices & the words of the Warrant The words of the Indenture

Whether at 18 pence 30s. 3d English wchwhich was their just value before the union while the said Scottish Act was in forcce, or at 20 pence33s 4d English as the Lords of yethe Council of Scotland valued them in disposing of the Equivalent.
