    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2"><hi rend="italic">Calling in the</hi> Scots <hi rend="italic">Crowns Old and</hi> <choice><orig>N</orig><reg><hi rend="italic">N</hi></reg></choice><hi rend="italic">ew</hi>, <hi rend="italic">The Fourty</hi>, <hi rend="italic">Twenty</hi>, <hi rend="italic">and Ten shilling <lb xml:id="l1"/>pieces to be Re-coined</hi>. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
    
    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3"><hi rend="largest"><hi rend="bold">A</hi></hi>NNE by the Grace of God Queen of <hi rend="italic">Great</hi>-<hi rend="italic">Britain France</hi> and <hi rend="italic">Ireland</hi>, Defender of the Faith, <lb xml:id="l2"/>To Our <supplied reason="damage" cert="high">Late</supplied> King at Arms and his <choice><orig><hi rend="italic">B</hi></orig><reg>B</reg></choice>rethren Heraults, Macers of Our Privy Council, Pur<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l3"/>sevan<unclear reason="damage" cert="medium">ce</unclear>, Messengers at Arms, Our Sheriffs in that part, Conjunctly and severally, <choice><orig><space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="1"/></orig><reg>e</reg></choice>specially <lb xml:id="l4"/>Constitute, Gree<unclear reason="damage" cert="medium">t</unclear>ing, <hi rend="italic"><choice><orig>FOR AS MUCH</orig><reg>For as much</reg></choice></hi>, as We by Our former Proclamation of the date the nineteenth <lb xml:id="l5"/>Day of <hi rend="italic">September</hi> last, In prosecution of the fifteenth Article of the Treaty of Union betwixt the two <lb xml:id="l6"/>Kingdoms, for reducing the Coin of <hi rend="italic">Scotland</hi>, to the Standart and Value of the Coin of <hi rend="italic">England</hi>, and <lb xml:id="l7"/>of the Remit made by the late Parliament of <hi rend="italic">Scotland</hi> to Our Privy Council for that Effect, Did, up<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l8"/>on the grounds therein narrated, give full and distinct Orders to all our Liedges, Owners and Possessors <lb xml:id="l9"/>re-coined and reduced to the Standart of <hi rend="italic">England</hi>; And thereupon did <choice><sic>farder</sic><corr>further</corr></choice> Ordain and Declare, <lb xml:id="l10"/>That after the sixth day of <hi rend="italic">October</hi> then next and now past, all the foresaids Foreign Species of Money <lb xml:id="l11"/>should be no more Current, but only held and repute as Bullion in manner mentioned in the said <lb xml:id="l12"/>Proclamation; And that after the fifteenth day of the said <choice><sic>Moneth</sic><corr>Month</corr></choice> of <hi rend="italic">October</hi>, it should only be receiv<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l13"/>ed at the <hi rend="italic">Mint</hi> as Bullion to be Re-coined without any consideration of Loss, and with the Benefit of a <lb xml:id="l14"/>free Coinage allanerly, with the exception contained in favours of the Bank in manner mentioned in <lb xml:id="l15"/>the said Proclamation. And it be <choice><sic>farder</sic><corr>further</corr></choice> Resolved by Our Privy Council in <hi rend="italic">Scotland</hi>, after the calling <lb xml:id="l16"/>in of the foresaid Foreign Species of Money, to be Re-coined in the first place, That then the present <lb xml:id="l17"/><hi rend="italic">Scots</hi> Coin now current in <hi rend="italic">Scotland</hi>, should also be called in, in order to the said Reduction, as Our Privy <lb xml:id="l18"/>Council should think fit. And there being sufficient provision now made to prevent the want, and <lb xml:id="l19"/>maintain the currencie of Money and Species; <choice><orig>THEREFORE</orig><reg>Therefore</reg></choice> We, in pursuance of the said Resolve, <lb xml:id="l20"/>with Advice of Our Privy Council, have thought fit to Intimat, and do hereby Solemnly Intimat to all <lb xml:id="l21"/>Our Liedges, Owners and Possessors of the several Species of Our <hi rend="italic">Scots</hi> Coin following, <hi rend="italic">viz</hi>. <hi rend="italic">Scots</hi> <lb xml:id="l22"/>Crowns Old and New, Fourty shilling, Twenty shilling, and Ten shilling pieces, shall be no more Current <lb xml:id="l23"/>nor offered, nor Receivable in any payments; But shall, from &amp; after thesaid Day, be only held &amp; repute <lb xml:id="l24"/>as Bullion to be disposed of by the Owners, within the Kingdom as they shall think fit, except as to <lb xml:id="l25"/>the Bank of <hi rend="italic">Scotland</hi> at <hi rend="italic">Edinburgh</hi>, by whom the same shall be Received at the full Value, until the <lb xml:id="l26"/>Twenty fifth day of the said Month of <hi rend="italic">February</hi> next inclusive, &amp; no longer in manner abovementioned; <lb xml:id="l27"/><choice><orig>DECLARING</orig><reg>Declaring</reg></choice> <choice><sic>farder</sic><corr>further</corr></choice>, That the foresaid <hi rend="italic">Scots</hi> Species, hereby Discharged and turned to Bullion, as said <lb xml:id="l28"/>is, shall, from and after the said Twenty fifth day of <choice><orig>F</orig><reg><hi rend="italic">F</hi></reg></choice><hi rend="italic">ebruary</hi> Inclusive, be only Received at the <hi rend="italic">Mint</hi>, <lb xml:id="l29"/>by whomsoever presented, either by the Bank or any other of Our Liedges as Bullion, to be Re-coined <lb xml:id="l30"/>according to the said Standart and Value of the Coin of <hi rend="italic">England</hi>; but without any consideration of <lb xml:id="l31"/>Loss, which they may thereby sustain, and with the Benefit of a free Coinage allanerly, as was <lb xml:id="l32"/>formerly in use: Excepting always herefrom, all the saids <hi rend="italic">Scots</hi> Species, that shall be given in to, and <lb xml:id="l33"/>found in the Bank, before and upon the said Twenty fifth day of <choice><orig>F</orig><reg><hi rend="italic">F</hi></reg></choice><hi rend="italic">ebruary</hi>, according to an Accompt <lb xml:id="l34"/>thereof to be taken by order of Our Privy Council for Certifying the same, to the effect, that when <lb xml:id="l35"/>given in by the Bank at any time thereafter to the <hi rend="italic">Mint</hi> for Re-coinage; The Bank and the Directors <lb xml:id="l36"/>thereof may have their Loss and Allowance thereupon made good to them as given in before the <lb xml:id="l37"/>said Day. <choice><orig>OUR WILL IS HEREFORE</orig><reg>Our Will is herefore</reg></choice>, And We Charge you strictly, and Command, That in<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l38"/>continent <unclear reason="damage" cert="medium">this</unclear> Our Letters seen, <choice><abbr>ye</abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> pass to the Mercat-cross of <hi rend="italic">Edinburgh</hi>, and the remanent Mercat-<lb xml:id="l39"/>crosses of the Head Burghs of the several Shires and Stewartries within <hi rend="italic">Scotland</hi>, and there, in Our <lb xml:id="l40"/>Name and Authority, by open Proclamation, make Intimation hereof, that none pretend Ignorance: <lb xml:id="l41"/>And Ordains Our Solicitors to transmit Printed copies hereof, to the Sherriffs of the several Shires, <lb xml:id="l42"/>and Stewarts of the Respective Stewartries above mentioned, to be sent by them to the several Session <lb xml:id="l43"/>Clerks of the Paroches within their Respective bounds: And Appoints the saids Clerks to Read and <lb xml:id="l44"/>Intimate this our Proclamation in the Churches, before the Dissolution of the Congregation, <lb xml:id="l45"/>That Our Royal Pleasure in the Premisses may be known to all concerned. And Ordains <unclear reason="damage" cert="medium">this</unclear> pre<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l46"/><gap reason="damage" unit="chars" extent="5"/> to be Printed. Given under Our Signet at <hi rend="italic">Edinburgh</hi> the Twelfth day of <hi rend="italic">Ianuary</hi>; And of Our <lb xml:id="l47"/>Reign the sixth year. 1708.</p>
