<p xml:id="par2">Sir <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="2"/></p>

<p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3">I received yours of the 4<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> instant, and have given directions <lb xml:id="l1"/>accordingly. That same day I wrote a long letter to <lb xml:id="l2"/>you, to which I wait an answer.</p>
    
<p xml:id="par4">I told you I would give you an accurate account <lb xml:id="l3"/>of the next melting, which was on tuesday last, &amp; is this, <lb xml:id="l4"/>I examined the Pot paper, and attended the whole melting <lb xml:id="l5"/>and Essay my self. The Pot contained about 470<hi rend="superscript">Lib wt</hi> <lb xml:id="l6"/>Troy. I have sent you enclosed pieces of the first Mold <lb xml:id="l7"/>or F<supplied reason="damage">la</supplied>sk, the midle mold, &amp; the last mold, as you see <lb xml:id="l8"/>them marked. Two Flasks are skrew'd together here, <lb xml:id="l9"/>as with you. The Pot was just 35 minutes in being <lb xml:id="l10"/>laded out, and I am satisfyed it cannot be done <del type="cancelled">in</del> <lb xml:id="l11"/>in shorter time here. You see that though the first <lb xml:id="l12"/>mold be Standard by the Assay masters report, yet <lb xml:id="l13"/>the last is near 2<hi rend="superscript">dwt</hi> better. I must again beg <lb xml:id="l14"/>your directions what to doe in this case; for this <lb xml:id="l15"/>is a great uncertainty.</p>
    
<p xml:id="par5">I have also, as you directed me, sent you a piece <lb xml:id="l16"/>of silver which our Assay Master finds to be precisely <lb xml:id="l17"/>standard. This is that which is sealed. I must pray you <lb xml:id="l18"/>to cause all those four pieces to be assayed in the Tower <lb xml:id="l19"/>and give me an account of the tryal.</p>

<p rend="indent0" xml:id="par6">I saw our Assay master make assay of the standard <lb xml:id="l20"/>tryal piece, at the same time that he made the <lb xml:id="l21"/>assay of the pot &amp; piece I speak of.</p>
    
<p xml:id="par7">After a strict search into all the boxes <lb xml:id="l22"/>that are come, We can find no Puncheons <lb xml:id="l23"/>for small Armes &amp; letters for shillings &amp; sixpences, <lb xml:id="l24"/>which therefore have not, in my opinion been <lb xml:id="l25"/>sent: And there is only one sieve come to <lb xml:id="l26"/>hand.
