Minutes for An Act for further encouragement of Coynage.

In consideration of yethe advantages wchwhich may accrue to yethe East India Company by this Act by lowering the price of Bullion & permitting the exportation of money & principally for encouraging the importation of Gold & Silver in lieu of yethe great quantities exported by them & for or toward paying the charge of coyning so much as they shall export in English coyn, they the said Company shall annually pay to the Master of yethe Mint at yethe Feast of his Office in yethe Tower of London upon the Feast of the summ of thousand pounds.

32 For encouraging the Importation the Importation of Gold & Silver to be coyned in England.of Gold & Silver to be coyned in England

The East Indaia Company to pay annually into yethe Master of yethe MintCustome house upon yethe Feast or wthwithin ten days after the summ of thousand pounds as an addition to yethe Coynage Duty for defraying the charge of coynage, & to see yethe same entred in the Leger Books of yethe Warden Master & Comptroller & Kings Clerk of yethe Mint to charge the Master withallthe first payment to be made upon yetheupon yethe said Feast & in default of paymtment yethe said summ to be speedily seized in any of their ships by Warrant of the CommrsCommissioners of yethe Customes. And Theis saidumm thousand pounds to be set apart wthwith the Dutyies given for encouragemtencouragement of coynage & paid into yethe Excheqruer & thence to yethe MrMaster of yethe Mint for yethe same uses. And in consideration of the said Annuity the East India company to pay but half yethe charge of the coynaing what monies they export.

The law would encourage yethe Merchant to bring his Bullion from Spain to yethe Market in England rather then carry it directly to yethe Indies & be stampt wthwith where the coynage will cost at least twice as much as the exportation of money finrom England. And the more Gold & SilverBullion flows to orour market the more money will stay with us, & the more will orour coyn be propagated abroad to yethe honour of the nation.
