    <p xml:id="par7">The Petition of the Merchants &amp; Goldsmiths underwritten in <lb xml:id="l12"/>behalf of themselves &amp; other Importers of Bullion into her <lb xml:id="l13"/><choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">tys</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> Mint, most humbly sheweth.</p>

    <p xml:id="par9">And <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> Petitioners shall ever pray &amp;c. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par10">Thence also it might happen that at the making of the two last setts <lb xml:id="l27"/>of Trial-pieces the Assayer might not report the fine gold so fine as it <lb xml:id="l28"/>really was.</p>
    
    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par11">At the East Trial of the Pix the gold money<del type="strikethrough">s</del> w<del type="over">ere</del><add place="over" indicator="no">as</add> standard <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">full by the Assay</add> &amp; the Trial piece <lb xml:id="l29"/>a quarter of a grain better then <del type="strikethrough">standard &amp;</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the moneys &amp; yet</add> the Iury in their Veredict repre<lb xml:id="l30"/>sented <del type="strikethrough">the Trial piece standard &amp; the gold a quarter of a grain worse then <lb xml:id="l31"/>standard</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the money a quarter of a grain worse the standard &amp; <del type="strikethrough"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">money</unclear></del> the Trial piece standard</add> <del type="cancelled">By</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">This Trial piece was made <del type="cancelled">1702</del> without the Queens order<del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del> A.C. 1<del type="over">6</del><add place="over" indicator="no">7</add>07, &amp; by</add> my assays <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">this tr</unclear></del> very carefully made <del type="strikethrough">this trial piece</del> <add place="inline" indicator="no">it</add> is five <lb xml:id="l32"/>twelfts of a grain better then standard, that of 1688 is a sixt part of a grain <lb xml:id="l33"/>better then standard &amp; that of 1660 is standard.</p>
