    <p rend="center" xml:id="par1"><hi rend="larger">The manner of making the standard <lb xml:id="l1"/>Trial pieces.</hi> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par2">After the mak<del type="over">e</del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>ng of new standard trial pieces is resolved upon the <lb xml:id="l2"/>Lord Chancellour may send his Letter to the Wardens &amp; Company of Goldsmiths <lb xml:id="l3"/>to return to him the names of an able Iury to make the standards. The Iury for this <lb xml:id="l4"/>purpose has been of 12 persons &amp; sometimes more.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par3">The return of the names being made, his <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> may send his Warrant <del type="strikethrough"><unclear reason="del" cert="high">for</unclear></del> by <lb xml:id="l5"/>his Serjeant at arms or Serjeants Deputy to summon the Iury by their names <lb xml:id="l6"/>to attend his <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> at the time appointed.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par4">And when they attend, his <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> may call to his Serjeant at arms for his <lb xml:id="l7"/>Warrant for summoning them &amp; order the same to be delivered to the <choice><sic>Rembrancer<supplied reason="foxed">s</supplied></sic><corr>Remembrancer<supplied reason="foxed">s</supplied></corr></choice> <lb xml:id="l8"/>Deputy who may attend with a copy of an oath to be given the Iury, &amp; the Oath <lb xml:id="l9"/>being administred, his <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> may give the Iury in charge to make with all <lb xml:id="l10"/>exactness imaginable &amp; according to their best endeavours, One standard of crown <lb xml:id="l11"/>gold conteining in the pound weight Troy eleven ounces of fine gold &amp; one ounce <lb xml:id="l12"/>of copper allay, and One standard of sterling silver conteining in the pound <lb xml:id="l13"/>weight Troy el<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add>ven ounces &amp; two penny weight of fine silver &amp; eighteen <lb xml:id="l14"/>penny weight of <del type="cancelled">all</del> copper allay; &amp; to indent &amp; divide each int<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add> seven <lb xml:id="l15"/>equal parts, &amp; to inscribe &amp; print every Part in such manner as hath been <lb xml:id="l16"/>usually done. And his <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> may also appoint the time when &amp; where to <lb xml:id="l17"/>attend him with their Veredict &amp; with the said Indented trial pieces.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5">That piece <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> Tallies with all the rest is to be delivered into the Treasury at <lb xml:id="l18"/>Westminster, the two delivered to the Officers of the Mint in the Tower are to tally <lb xml:id="l19"/>with one another &amp; one of them with that delivered to the Wardens <del type="cancelled">&amp;</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">of the</add> Company <lb xml:id="l20"/>of Goldsmiths &amp; of the three sent into Scotland, that <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> tallies with the other <lb xml:id="l21"/>two may be delivered into the Treasury there, that upon the trial of the Pix they <lb xml:id="l22"/>may both be examined by it. The print upon the Trial pieces has usually been <lb xml:id="l23"/><add place="inline" indicator="no">t</add><del type="over">a</del><add place="over" indicator="no">h</add><add place="inline" indicator="no">e</add> stamp of the current money &amp; the inscription upon them has been in the <lb xml:id="l24"/>following form.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par6">This standard commixed of 22 carrets of fine gold &amp; 2 carrets of allay in the <lb xml:id="l25"/>pound weight Troy of England 20 Iun. 1705.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par7">This standard commixed of 11<hi rend="superscript">oz</hi> 2<hi rend="superscript">dw<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></hi> <del type="cancelled">Troy</del> of fine silver &amp; 18<hi rend="superscript">dwt</hi> of allay in the <lb xml:id="l26"/>pound weight Troy of England made 20 Iun. 1705. In<choice><orig> </orig><reg/></choice>stead of England may be now <lb xml:id="l27"/>written <del type="over">g</del><add place="over" indicator="no">G</add>reat Britain.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par8">The trial piece of silver for the Wardens of the Company of Goldsmiths <lb xml:id="l28"/>may be kept in the Treasury untill the Goldsmiths may have occasion for it.</p>
