                <p rend="center" xml:id="par1"><hi rend="larger">Observations</hi> <lb type="intentional" xml:id="l1"/><hi rend="large">concerning the Triall of the Moneys in the Pix.</hi> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="2"/></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par2">The time &amp; place for the Tryall of the Gold &amp; Silver moneys <lb xml:id="l2"/>in the Pix, is appointed by Order of his <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> or Council about <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">three weeks</add> a <lb xml:id="l3"/>month <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or five week</add> before, &amp; signified to the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> Chancellour &amp; <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> High <lb xml:id="l4"/>Treasurer, &amp; by the Treasury to the Mint &amp; Exchequer. The <lb xml:id="l5"/>place has usually been in or neare the Star-chamber.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">The Lord Chancellour presently after this Order sends his <lb xml:id="l6"/>Letter to the Wardens &amp; Company of the Mystery of Goldsmiths London <lb xml:id="l7"/>to return him the names of an able Iury for that Tryall. And the <lb xml:id="l8"/>return being made, his <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> sends his Warrant by his Serjeant <lb xml:id="l9"/>at arms or Serjeants Deputy to summon the Iury by their names to <lb xml:id="l10"/>meet at the placed <del type="cancelled">appointed</del> &amp; time appointed for the Tryall.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">On the day of the T<del type="over">y</del><add place="over" indicator="no">r</add>yall the Officers of the Mint cause the <lb xml:id="l11"/>Pieces to be placed on the Table before nine in the morning. And <lb xml:id="l12"/>about tenn <del type="strikethrough">the King if he pleases, &amp;</del> the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> Chancellour &amp; other <lb xml:id="l13"/>Lords of the Councill then present take their places at the Table <lb xml:id="l14"/>aforesaid, the Officers of the Mint Exchequer Officers &amp; Goldsmiths <lb xml:id="l15"/>attending.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">The Pixes being opened by the Officers of the Mint, the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l16"/>Chancellour calls to his Serjeant at Arms for his Warrant for <lb xml:id="l17"/>summoning the Iury &amp; appoints the same to be delivered to the <lb xml:id="l18"/>Remembrancers Deputy who attends there with a copy of the Oath <lb xml:id="l19"/>And the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> Chancellour causeth the said Oath to be administred <lb xml:id="l20"/>to the Iury.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par6">The <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>H.</abbr><expan>High</expan></choice> Treasurer <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or Chancellour of the Exchequer</add> appoints the standard<del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">s</unclear></del> Troy weights <lb xml:id="l21"/>&amp; the Indented Tryall pieces of his <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty's</expan></choice> standard gold &amp; silver <lb xml:id="l22"/>moneys kept in the Treasury of the Exchequer to be delivered <lb xml:id="l23"/>for the use of the Iury, the Warden &amp; Master <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">&amp; <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">the</add> Iury</add> atte<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">n</add>ding with <lb xml:id="l24"/>their Trial pieces to be compares <del type="strikethrough">ther</del><choice><sic>e</sic><corr type="delText">e</corr></choice>with <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the Trial pieces of the Exchequer</add> if it be thought fit.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par7">The Lord Chancellour (or in his absence the Chancellour <lb xml:id="l25"/>of the Exchequer) gives the Iury in charge to <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">m</add>ake tryall of <lb xml:id="l26"/>the gold &amp; silver moneys in the Pix by the said standards <del type="over">i<gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">of</add> <lb xml:id="l27"/>his <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty's</expan></choice> Treasury according to the Rules set down in th<del type="over">is</del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add> In<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l28"/>denture of the Mint, &amp; to do it carefully by fire by water <lb xml:id="l29"/>by touch or by weight or by all or by some of them, in the <lb xml:id="l30"/>most just &amp; exact manner than can be<del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> thought of, it being a <lb xml:id="l31"/>business of a <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="4"/></del> very publick concern.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par8">The Lord Chancellour then appoints the Iury when &amp; where <lb xml:id="l32"/>to attend <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">h</add>is <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> with their Veredict, &amp; so departs with <lb xml:id="l33"/>the rest of the Lords, &amp; the Officers of the Mint with the <lb xml:id="l34"/>Iury withdraw.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par9">And at the time <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">&amp; place</add> appointed the Iury present their Veredict <lb xml:id="l35"/>to his <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice>, the Officers of the Mint being present. And the <lb xml:id="l36"/>Remembrancers Deputy attends to read it, &amp; after it is read, to <lb xml:id="l37"/>receive it</p>
