<p rend="indent10" xml:id="par2">To enable the Master &amp; Worker to carry on the coynage <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice>out <lb xml:id="l1"/>depending upon the King or Queen's Assaymaster, he is allowed <lb xml:id="l2"/>60 pounds per annum towards <del type="cancelled">enabling him to keep</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">the charge of keeping</add> an Assaymaster <lb xml:id="l3"/><del type="strikethrough">of his own</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">for himself</add> whenever he shall need one. But now for a lo<del type="over"><gap reason="over" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">n</add>g time <lb xml:id="l4"/>the Gold &amp; Silver has been received into the Mint by the <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">Kin</unclear></del> <lb xml:id="l5"/>assays of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> King or Queens Assaymaster &amp; the <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">that I</unclear></del><add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><choice><abbr>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Master</expan></choice> &amp; <choice><abbr>W<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Worker</expan></choice></add> allows the <lb xml:id="l6"/>60<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> an and to a Deputy who has power to examin the assays <lb xml:id="l7"/>of the <del type="strikethrough">King or Queens</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">said</add> Assaymaster by <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">his own or</add> those of any other <lb xml:id="l8"/>Assaymaster as often as shall be thought fit. If your <lb xml:id="l9"/><choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> <del type="strikethrough">still thinks fit still to trust the King or Queens</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">therefore pleases that the Queens Assaymaster be still trusted in</add> <choice><abbr>Assaym<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Assaymaster</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l10"/><add place="lineBeginning supralinear" indicator="no"><del type="strikethrough">upon</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">in</add> the receipt of Bullion into <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint</add> I am also willing to trust him, he being <del type="strikethrough">upon oath</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">a sworn officer</add> &amp; an indiffer<lb xml:id="l11"/>ent person &amp; I having met with no complaints against him <lb xml:id="l12"/><add place="lineBeginning supralinear" indicator="no">&amp; his Assays being recconed exacter then those at Goldsmiths Halls &amp; the Gold &amp; silver</add><add place="lineBeginning infralinear" indicator="no">being safe in his hands.</add> But if your Lordship chuses rather that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <seg rend="ns" rendition="ns">☉</seg> &amp; <seg rend="ns" rendition="ns">☾</seg> should be <lb xml:id="l13"/>received into the Mint by the Assays of <del type="strikethrough">such a goldsmith</del> <lb xml:id="l14"/>another Assaymaster to be imployed under me, I am ready to <lb xml:id="l15"/>provide one so soon as <del type="strikethrough">another</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">a new</add> Assay Office <del type="strikethrough">can be</del> with <lb xml:id="l16"/>other conveniences can be <del type="strikethrough">provided</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">had &amp; made fit</add> in the Mint.</p>
